Dave Bautista Has A New Horror Movie In The Works?
Is Dave Bautista's next move to expand his work in the horror genre?

Actor Dave Bautista goes by “Poor Kid Who Chased His Dreams” on Twitter. Sometimes, this seems like a reminder he’s giving himself. His career has grown by leaps and bounds. In large part, this is due to the attention he’s gained as Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy for Marvel. Despite the fame it’s given him, he’s made it known that he’s ready to be done playing the character after the third volume comes out. He’s looking ahead to new projects. It sounds like he wants to explore new franchises and expand his horizons as an actor. And now, according to Hollywood insider Daniel Richtman, we have an idea of what one fo those next projects may be.
Daniel Richtman shared with his Patreon page that as Dave Bautista just starred in a zombie film, he would like to also star in a vampire movie. We can assume this means that he wants to further establish his name within the horror genre and make a name for himself in that space. We know that he’s starting to be seen as somewhat of an action star. He is often compared to John Cena and Dwayne Johnson, something he doesn’t exactly like. Like Cena and Johnson, Bautista is a former WWE star. His performance in Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead set him up in a film with a big gun in his arm, showing off his well-muscled body. This could be associated with action movies. Perhaps he sees making a vampire movie one of his next moves as a way to establish himself with horror genre fans instead.
That’s only speculation, though, and this claim from Daniel Richtman is only a rumor. So far, we know that Dave Bautista seems quite happy to have been in Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead for Netflix. There has been talk of expanding that project out into sequels, prequels, and other takes. Whether Dave Bautista may be involved in future Army of the Dead projects is unknown.
We do know that he has signed on for Rian Johnson’s Knives Out 2. This was a big win for Dave Bautista. The movie is also going to be on Netflix. It will star Daniel Craig. Bautista is joining an all-star cast for this much-anticipated project. While we don’t know much about it yet, it should be a mystery similar to the first, which means not an action movie likely to get associated with John Cena or Dwayne Johnson. This sounds more like what Bautista is trying to move forwards in his career moving forward.
Why Dave Bautista would specifically be seeking out a vampire movie project is unknown. Vampires tend to be incredibly popular in moments, and then fade back into the background. Right now, they’re in a down slump. Some people believe they will never be popular again, but they’re kind of always around. Perhaps Dave Bautista feels their moment is coming back, or perhaps he doesn’t care. Zombies aren’t at their peak right now either, and Army of the Dead did quite well for him. Based on his recent choices, it hardly seems like he’ll sign up for any vampire project that comes along. If he is seeking out a vampire opportunity, he’s likely looking for the right director to join up with.
