Daniel Radcliffe, Steve Buscemi, Geraldine Viswanathan, Karan Soni, and Jon Bass are back in the fourth season of the hilarious anachronism Miracle Workers, and this time the mayhem is taking place in the post-apocalypse. Love and marriage are the themes as main characters Sid and Freya move to the most dystopian setting in all the world – the suburbs. The first official trailer was recently released by TBS and shows the comedy ensemble as Sid starts his first job while Freya manages the home and the family dog.

Daniel Radcliffe and company first starred in Miracle Workers in 2019, and the opening season was a limited series about two angels in the Unanswered Prayers department of Heaven. Each season since has taken on a new setting and theme as it has brought the laughs to the Dark Ages and Oregon Trail. The five lead actors play different roles in each season, which tells a new story based on the writing of show creator and novelist Simon Rich.

In season one, the two angels, Craig and Eliza, are tasked with answering the billions of prayers that humans have sent to God, who is preoccupied with a new project and has abandoned Earth. When the deity announces that he is destroying the planet, the two bumbling angels beg him to stay his hand if they can answer just one prayer. Daniel Radcliffe plays Craig, and this first season of Miracle Workers only had seven episodes.

Following positive critical acclaim and reception from audiences, a second season called Dark Ages premiered in January 2020. In a longer 10-episode format based on Rich’s story “Revolution,” it tells the story of a ruthless king, a kind-hearted prince, and the peasants who live in a bleak kingdom. Daniel Radcliffe plays the prince in this second season of Miracle Workers, which guest stars Peter Serafinowicz as King Cragnoor the Heartless.

Daniel Radcliffe leads a caravan down the Oregon Trail in the third season of Miracle Workers, with Steve Buscemi portraying notorious outlaw and the group’s trail guide, Benny the Teen. The hijinks ensue as the town follows its leader, Ezekiel Brown, to a better life in the Beaver State on a trail beset with threats such as disease, famine, wildlife, and other humans. As the law tries to track down Benny the Teen, the group heads further west and deals with their tribulations in hilarious ways.

The trailer for season four gives viewers a glimpse at the new plot and setting for this arc of the anthology show. Daniel Radcliffe plays Sid, Geraldine Viswanathan plays Freya, and Steve Buscemi is cast as Sid’s new boss in this Max Max-styled story, giving us that familiar Miracle Workers humor in a new time and place. With three strong seasons behind it, the trailer for the fourth season gives hope that the show will keep performing.

Fans can catch Daniel Radcliffe and the ensemble cast of Miracle Workers in season four on TBS on January 18. The previous seasons are streaming on HBO Max.
