It’s time for another installment of the Creed franchise, and we couldn’t be more excited, but with great excitement, comes an even greater need to catch up on the previous installments. Luckily, you can still catch Creed, and Creed II on HBO Max, and other streaming platforms have it available as well. So if binge-watching is one of your hobbies, and you want to see where the Rocky spinoff is heading, then you can get to streaming right away.

Michael B. Jordan portrays Adonis “Donnie” Johnson in Creed — which can be found streaming on HBO Max and Amazon Prime — and he wants to follow in his deceased father’s footsteps. Adonis never met his father, Apollo, but fighting is in his DNA, and he wants to carry his family’s legacy into a new generation. Under the guidance of Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone), Adonis rises through the rankings and gets a shot at winning the title.

Creed II picks up right where Creed left off, and thanks to its availability on streaming platforms, you can watch them back to back. We find Donnie at odds with his desire to start a new life in Los Angeles with his wife, Bianca Taylor, and facing a new adversary. Though this time it’s personal: Donnie finds himself pitted against Viktor Drago, the son of Ivan Drago, the Soviet boxer who killed his father in the ring in Rocky IV.

Despite Creed’s success in both theaters and streaming alike, it’s an unfortunate reality that Sylvester Stallone will not be present in Creed III. Stallone cites creative differences, stating that the franchise is taking a darker turn compared to the more sentimental storylines he prefers to take part in. Though Stallone wishes the cast and crew good luck with Creed III, one can’t help but wonder if his absence will help or hurt the franchise.

Creed III is Michael B. Jordan’s directorial debut, and we hope that he will take the Creed franchise to a new level with both box office and streaming numbers. Jordan not only reprised his role from the first two films but also had a heavy hand in the creative direction of the third installment. Creed III will involve tension between Donnie and a formerly incarcerated childhood friend who wants to fight him, which will jeopardize Donnie’s future as we know it.

The third installment of the Creed franchise premiered in theaters today (March 3, 2023), and will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime a few months after its theatrical release. If you’re not thrilled by the absence of Rocky, we still think you should give the film a chance. After all, Creed is all about overcoming adversity and defying the odds, and we think it’s safe to say that the franchise and its legacy are secure in the hands of Michael B. Jordan.
