Christina Ricci Stayed Naked The Entire Time While Filming A Movie
Christina Ricci was naked almost the entire time while filming Black Snake Moan.
When it comes to child actors of the 1990s, Christina Ricci may indeed stand out from the long list of those that have seen their careers flourish since the early days of their filmmaking and acting careers. But it is her choice to be naked while filming Black Snake Moan that may have propelled the actor to become more confident in herself and her acting skills, as can be seen in the recent Yellowjackets series.
According to an interview Christina Ricci gave with fellow actor Sydney Sweeney for Variety, Ricci confirms that she filmed a movie, Black Snake Moan, naked for almost the entirety of the shoot. Being very comfortable in her own skin and unafraid to show off for the camera, Ricci believed she was doing the character justice by reaching into her sexual side in order to convey what the role required.
No one asked Ricci to be naked behind the scenes for the film, it was something the actor wanted to do in order to show the cast and crew of the movie that there was nothing for her to be ashamed of, as she believed others were ashamed on her behalf.
The interview that Christina Ricci gave with Sydney Sweeney caps off a stellar year for both actors, who were both nominated for Primetime Emmys this year for their respective television shows. Ricci stars in Yellowjackets with Melanie Lynskey and Juliette Lewis, which was renewed for a second season on Showtime.
Sweeney, on the other hand, currently stars as Cassie Howard on HBO’s teen drama Euphoria alongside Zendaya, and Sweeney simultaneously took on supporting actress duties while costarring on HBO’s hit anthology series, The White Lotus, where actors Steve Zahn and Connie Britton played her character’s parents.
Christina Ricci is well-known for her role as Wednesday Addams in 1991’s The Addams Family, its subsequent sequel, as well as a variety of other projects like The Ice Storm, Now and Then, The Opposite of Sex, and Tim Burton’s classic, Sleepy Hollow. Her recent career renaissance has come in the form of featured roles in high-profile television shows like her guest appearance in Grey’s Anatomy with Kyle Chandler.
Even though Christina Ricci did not divulge what film, in particular, she was nude in for most of the behind-the-scenes action and filming, The Digital Fix confirms that it was in fact 2007’s Black Snake Moan that Ricci was speaking about. Directed by Craig Brewer, the thriller takes place in Mississippi where a man, played by Samuel L. Jackson, imprisons a local woman in his house that he believes is a nymphomaniac and thinks he can cure her of her sins after he notices her beaten up on the side of the road.
Black Snake Moan was not a great success for Brewer, Ricci, and the rest of the cast that included an early acting performance from singer Justin Timberlake, failing to recoup its losses when it was released in theaters as the movie only grossed $10.9 million at the box office against a budget of $15 million.
