The latest trailer for Thor Love and Thunder gave MCU fans a glimpse at Christian Bale’s villain, Gorr the God Butcher. Bale looks stunningly sinister in his villainous guise, but, could he have looked better? As great as Bale’s incarnation of the Marvel Villain is, it is unquestionably a resemblance that looks more Christian Bale than it does God Butcher. However, thanks to an artist’s impressive work on Instagram, fans can also see a comic-book accurate version of how Christian Bale should really look.

In the comics, Gorr has a very otherworldly appearance, an alien with an almost serpent-like nature, his face is not one of a humanoid nature. The character is devoted to killing all Gods in the Universe. However, Christian Bale’s cinematic take on the character sees him retain much of his standard physique instead of the comic book design fans will have become accustomed to. For those wishing to see something different, the artist known as Boss Logic has created an alternative which you can see below.

Gone is the humanoid resemblance to Christian Bale and in are the alien-like features. BossLogic’s design takes the comic book inspiration of Gorr the God Butcher’s appearance and takes it up a notch. The design is impressive and shows what could have been in the upcoming MCU movie. However, following Bale’s version of the character debuting in the recent trailer for Thor Love and Thunder, GameRant took to Twitter to gauge fans’ reactions to the live-action Gorr the God Butcher and the response is overwhelmingly positive. A common theme noted is how Bale’s take isn’t a direct copy of the comic-book version of the character, like the Boss Logic design, but the actor’s immeasurable talent is more than enough to justify the design.

Marvel’s choice to divert from a comic book accurate version of Gorr with Christian Bale is also praised by ScreenRant, who recall how Christopher Ecclestone’s Malekith in Thor: The Dark World was buried under prosthetics to such an extent his performance was hard to note. Luckily, Christian Bale won’t suffer the same fate. Despite this, other artists have also joined Boss Logic in creating a comic book accurate look at Gorr the God Butcher. CBR.com reported a combo design that borrowed stills of Bale’s live-action character and added elements of the comic book character design. The design can be seen below.

The comic book movie fandom love to take ownership of their beloved characters, and interpretations of the characters appearing in the movies are a big part of this. As a result, the likes of Boss Logic’s creation are likely to be just one of many. However, Christian Bale is more than likely to nail the role of Gorr the God Butcher regardless. Have Marvel made the right move in diverting from the comic book design of Gorr the God Butcher, will Christian Bale do justice to the role? It won’t be long until these questions and more can be answered, as Thor Love and Thunder will soar into American theatres on July 8th this summer.
