Christian Bale recently did an interview with Entertainment Tonight and revealed he would be open to doing another Marvel movie if it was a “good director and good character.” More importantly, he added that he would do it if “his kids say he’s not allowed not to do it.” This also happened to be why he took on the role of Gorr the God Butcher in Thor: Love and Thunder in the first place.

It’s pretty safe to say that Christian Bale would be welcomed back by Marvel fans with open arms. Although Thor: Love and Thunder was an uneven film and certainly not the MCU’s best effort, Bale’s haunting performance as Gorr was undoubtedly one of the best parts. Due to the events of the film, Bale wouldn’t be able to come back as Gorr but he could certainly play another character further down the line.

The good thing about Christian Bale playing Gorr the God Butcher, is the fact that Gorr has a very distinct look and Bale is a bit hidden by makeup and prosthetics. If he returned as another character, it probably wouldn’t cause anyone to bat an eye and wonder why Gorr is in a different Marvel film. Now the only question is who Bale should play.

Although Christian Bale is an actor known for taking prestigious roles, one of his biggest roles was the role of Batman for Marvel’s competitor, DC. The actor clearly brings his A-game to every project, whether it’s a comic book movie or not. While he’s said that he would only ever return to Batman under Christopher Nolan’s guidance, it appears he’s not opposed to playing other comic book characters.

Whether we get to see Christian Bale in another Marvel film or not, we can certainly look forward to his next role in The Pale Blue Eye. The Pale Blue Eye will follow Bale as a detective hired to investigate the murder of a cadet at West Point. To overcome the cadet’s code of silence, he asks for the help of a cadet that would one day become known as Edgar Allen Poe.

Scott Cooper directs and adapts the film based on the novel of the same name by Louis Bayard, with a supporting cast that includes Harry Melling, Gillian Anderson, Fred Hechinger, Lucy Boynton, Toby Jones, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Timothy Spall, and Robert Duvall. You’ll be able to catch Christain Bale in The Pale Blue Eye when it comes to Netflix on January 6, 2023.

You can also look forward to Christian Bale’s next non-Marvel role in The Church of Living Dangerously, which will follow him as the drug-running preacher John Lee Bishop. The film is based on an article by David Kushner and Charles Randolph is adapting the screenplay, but there is no release date at this time.

Who knows if we’ll ever get to see Christain Bale return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the future? In any case, the massive film universe continues to move full speed ahead without him. You can still see the latest MCU film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in theaters and you can see Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania when it hits theaters in February.
