Chris Pratt

When it comes to running from deadly monsters, Chris Pratt is perhaps one of the most experienced. We saw him running away and beating dinosaurs in Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom while he has fought otherworldly monsters in four Marvel films so far. And judging by the recently released final trailer of his upcoming sci-fi thriller, The Tomorrow War, he has only gotten better at dodging and shooting them!

See the final Chris Pratt trailer below.

In the final trailer of The Tomorrow War, we see Chris Patt as Dan Forester, an ex-Delta Force Operator joining hands with his estranged father, played by J.K. Simmons, and Yvonne Strahovski’s Vicki Winslow when time travelers from 2051 arrive in the present. They warn the population that 30 years from now, the Earth is taken over by an alien apocalypse such that the human population is on the brink of extinction and the planet is almost destroyed. The only way to save their future is for soldiers as well as any civilian above the age of 30 to travel to the future to fight the aliens while those under 30 from the future will travel to the past to train others.

The trailer also gives us a glimpse of the reason Chris Pratt’s character will be taking the risky decision of traveling to a deadly alien-infested time period–his young daughter, whose future he wants to secure. Apparently killing these monstrous aliens won’t come easy to his character as we see him with an injury in his shoulder in the trailer. But whatever impediment he will face, he will also eventually overcome as he is seen shooting down multiple hordes of aliens left, right, and center along with Yvonne Strahovski.

The Tomorrow War will mark the first time Chris Pratt and J.K. Simmons will be working together, though likely not the last as Simmons is now also part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (after debuting in Spider-Man: Far From Home). We may hopefully see Star-Lord and Daily Bugle’s J. Jonah Jameson crossing paths soon.

The Tomorrow War will mark Chris McKay’s live-action directorial debut as up till now, he has only helmed animated films like The Lego Movie and The Lego Batman Movie. Apart from Chris Pratt, Yvonne Strahovski, and J.K. Simmons, the film will also star Jasmine Mathews, Edwin Hodge, Sam Richardson, Betty Gilpin, Mary Lynn Rajskub, and Ryan Kiera Armstrong. Pratt is also on board as the film’s executive producer along with Rob Cowan, Bradley J. Fischer, and Brian Oliver. The film has been produced by Adam Kolbrenner, Jules Daly, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, David S. Goyer, Don Granger, and Samantha Nisenboim.

Initially, the Chris Pratt movie was supposed to get a theatrical release on December 25, 2020. But then the coronavirus pandemic hit and Paramount Pictures shifted around its release date multiple times. Soon, the film’s distribution rights were acquired by Amazon Studios for a whopping $200 million. Hopefully, it’s a sign of how confident they are that audiences will love this one.

The Tomorrow War is scheduled to release on Amazon Prime Video on July 2, 2021.
