Henry Cavill has been removed from three franchises in the span of three months, from Superman, to the Witcher, and now according to our trusted and proven sources, The Highlander remake. We know that Liam Hemsworth, the Australian star of The Hunger Games, will be filling in the role of Geralt in the next season of Netflix’s The Witcher . Now it’s Chris Hemsworth, the Australian star of the MCU as Thor, that is taking over one of Henry Cavill’s roles as the next Immortal.

We had an AI art program create what Chris Hemsworth might look like as the next Duncan Mcleod, or Conner Mcleod, or anyone from the seemingly immortal Scottish clan. Scroll through the images to see Hemsworth trade in his hammer for the signature sword from The Highlander and amazingly, this is one example of a casting change that might work out for the best. Henry Cavill is a very talented actor with the perfect jawline to play major superheroes and franchise leads, but he’s also been involved in so many projects that just for the sake of scheduling it has to be difficult.

Chris Hemsworth has perhaps picked up Thor’s hammer for the last time, while Henry Cavill is already heavily involved in bringing the best sci-fi universe to theaters for the first time: Warhammer 40,000. Cavill is not only set to star in the first film adapting the table top miniatures game, but is an executive producer as well. That level of involvement likely leaves little time for other products and helped lead Chad Stahelski, the director of John Wick, to drop him from The Highlander.

Other then the word of Chris Hemsworth’s casting, not much has been announced regarding The Highlander remake. Stahelski is also attached to the Ghosts of Tsuhima film, bringing the hit Playstation title to the big screen, though in a recent interview he admitted that the film is not ready to enter production yet. Now that Henry Cavill has been replaced, The Highlander may end up being the next film for the action movie director.

The only current project that is publicly on Chris Hemsworth’s schedule is his Hulk Hogan biopic which has yet to begin filming. Henry Cavill has, according to IMDB, Argyle, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. sequel, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare from Guy Ritchie, his Warhammer 40,000 obligations, and a potential Frankenstein remake. Judging by how well Hemsworth looks in the artwork, and that significantly smaller schedule, The Highlander producers have to be happy with their apparent second choice.

The Highlander may only be in pre-production so it will likely still be awhile before we get on-set images of Chris Hemsworth in his best Scottish garb. In the meantime, the Cabin in the Woods star will likely be enjoying time with his family during his brief respite from acting. Henry Cavill on the other hand, will continue to be cast in films until the heat death of the universe.
