Actor Chloe Grace Moretz has been involved in a number of television shows and films since becoming a child actor at a young age. From costarring in 30 Rock with Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin to starring in Hugo for director Martin Scorsese, Moretz has made a name for herself in a business that can often be cruel and distasteful in how it treats its young female actors. One such cruelty came in the form of a meme of Chloe Grace Moretz carrying a pizza box tailored to look like a character from the television series Family Guy, which resulted in Moretz becoming a recluse who distanced herself from photographers because of how the meme portrayed her physical appearance.

According to a report by Deadline, Chloe Grace Moretz has gone on the record to discuss how a Family Guy meme showing the Kick-Ass actor with long legs and a short torso affected her mental health, largely resulting in Moretz becoming a recluse in recent years. The meme in question was taken of the actor walking into a hotel carrying a pizza box, and it was quickly manipulated into a Family Guy-style animated graphic. She felt ashamed of how it appeared to make fun of her appearance, noting that she ultimately “felt really raw and vulnerable and open” to the point that she needed to take herself out of the limelight for a while and stop performing in movies and television shows where her body would be on full display for audiences to possibly ridicule.

Even though some people around Chloe Grace Moretz felt that the meme was funny and simply just made in jest, the actor knew it was making fun of her body, which could have resulted in Moretz developing body dysmorphia and affecting her mental health to a greater degree. After the meme went viral, Moretz wanted to shield her private life from social media so she chose to avoid photographers and other types of paparazzi in order to make sure she was taking care of her own well-being. Going to red carpet events, celebrity interviews, press tours, and movie premieres became much more of a chore for her than she had ever experienced before, as she most likely had a form of trauma in front of cameras knowing that others may dissect what she was wearing and how her body looked.

Since the Family Guy meme went viral, Chloe Grace Moretz has chosen to take more voice acting roles in programs like BoJack Horseman with Will Arnett and Alison Brie, as well as the podcast series Gaslight with Saturday Night Live alum Taran Killam. Having worked with high-profile actors in the past, Moretz will lend her appearance and acting skills to a new project called White Night, which will begin filming soon alongside star Joseph Gordon-Levitt. She has also been tapped to play a version of famed robber Bonnie Parker in Love Is a Gun for director Kike Maíllo, which is an alternate take on the story of Bonnie and Clyde, famously portrayed in the 1967 movie of the same name by Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway.
