Charlize Theron Making A Fast & Furious Spin-Off?

Charlize Theron reveals she would be interested in a Fast & Furious spinoff if Helen Mirren agrees to do it also.

Charlize Theron first debuted as the Fast & Furious villain Cypher, in The Fate of the Furious. Her character has since appeared in Fast 9 and is set to return presumably one final time in Fast X. However, she was recently asked if she would be part of a spinoff once the mainline story ends, and she responded with, “If Dame Helen Mirren does it, I’m in.”

There has been plenty of rumor that stated a female-led spinoff is meant to take off once the main story for Fast & Furious wraps up, and what better person to lead that charge than Charlize Theron? Naturally, this would mean that her character needs to have some sort of redemption set in place, so she could lead the team, or she would survive a final time to then be taken down by a female team of drivers. Either way, if Helen Mirren’s Magdalene Shaw is involved, so will Theron’s Cipher.

We would assume that Fast X is going to be the most ambitious movie made in the franchise, which will surpass the team heading into space. The final two chapters are meant to bring everything to a close, and we would imagine that characters from the past and present will return once more. Charlize Theron is returning as well, but if a spinoff is to happen, we would assume that her character is going to make it out alive.

Fast X is currently in production right now, with a release date of May 19, 2023. Newcomers to the franchise are Rita Moreno, Jason Momoa, Alan Ritchson, Daniela Melchior, and Brie Larson in an undisclosed role. Considering that Larson is now joining a cast that already consists of Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Charlize Theron, and Helen Mirren, we could be seeing the makings of the female-led team happening. We are not saying that all the women in the movies will want to continue their characters past the final two chapters, but there is still hope that it can happen.

Charlize Theron does believe in the power of the franchise, as she has stated that Vin Diesel and the producers have done something quite amazing to have an audience still dedicated to these films some 20 years later. That level of appreciation that she feels is certainly echoed by fans, as the last two movies have made over $700 million in worldwide box office numbers. We can assume that the final two chapters will bring in the same, and that could mean that spinoffs are certainly going to be attempted.

The world is going to have to wait quite a bit to see if the Fast & Furious franchise will turn into more than just the mainline story. There has been a spinoff already with the Hobbs & Shaw movie taking place, though we are not sure if that will ever get a sequel considering the fallout between Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson. Still, we would bank more on Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren being able to be enough to warrant another Fast & Furious spinoff movie.
