Charlie Cox, fresh off critical praise for his Netflix spy series Treason, is back getting fans excited over his upcoming Daredevil Disney+ series. Reporting from The Direct gets across not only the star’s excitement and enthusiasm for his new show, but also the new opportunities available now that he’s part of the larger MCU. After admitting that he hasn’t read a script yet and can’t say for sure what happens, Cox says “Now that door is wide open to all sorts of possibilities and that, for me, as someone who’s become a great fan of the comics and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s really exciting that that door is open and that we can have cameos from other characters that we couldn’t before.”

Charlie Cox first slipped into the red leather of blind lawyer Matt Murdock when Daredevil premiered on Netflix in 2015. At the time, Disney was keeping the Netflix shows separate from the main MCU with no major cross-overs taking place until 2021’s Spider-Man Far From Home. By the time the third Tom Holland Spider-Man movie was being filmed, the Netflix shows, including Daredevil, had migrated to Disney+, bringing all of Marvel’s shows under one corporate umbrella for the first time.

While Charlie Cox’s understated MCU debut was a fan favorite moment, it is also a great example of corporate synergy, getting curious fans to check out Daredevil for the first time now that it’s on Disney+. The blind lawyer returned for a much more substantial role in She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, sporting a new costume and developing a new love interest for Tatiana Maslany’s Jennifer Walters. The experience was so good, Cox wants to do it again, as he said during his interview “I thought she was amazing as Jennifer Walters, and I would be a huge… certainly an advocate of her showing up in our show if she’s free and available and willing and all of those things.”

Going off of the existing connection, She-Hulk would be an obvious guest star for the extra long first season of Daredevil Born Again, but what other characters could make an appearance? Charlie Cox will be part of Echo, alongside Vincent D’Onofrio returning as Wilson Fisk, and in the comics Echo was introduced as a love interest for Daredevil, making Alaqua Cox’s assassin another great candidate for a guest appearance. With similar release dates, Captain America: New World Order or The Thunderbolts may bleed over into the streets of New York, using an episode or two of Daredevil Born Again to emphasize the events of the movies.

Of course, if any of Charlie Cox’s fellow Netflix actors, Finn Jones (Danny Rand/Iron Fist), Mike Colter (Luke Cage), Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), or Jon Bernthal (Frank Castle/The Punisher), could appear in the new Daredevil series, that would be amazing. All of those characters have a prior relationship that could be explored in greater depth, while again setting up even more Disney+ series for the future. Daredevil Born Again will be filmed throughout most of 2023, meaning fans will have to wait until 2024 in order to see how integrated The Man Without Fear will be into the greater MCU.
