Just when you thought the world couldn’t handle any more Channing Tatum offshoots, the world serves you with some more sick dance moves in the form of a new Tatum-verse based live show. Today it was announced that the acting star will be bringing a version of his hit film franchise, Step Up, to stages everywhere. Coming from Tatum’s production company, Free Association, the team is setting out to create a new division which they’ve named FA Live. Planning to bring thrilling new live entertainment to audiences everywhere, FA Live is stepping out into the world alongside Lionsgate with a live dance show that will pull its performance from Step Up. Less scandalous than the other live action spinoff centered around Tatum’s performance in Magic Mike, FA Live promises the new production to be a family friendly show targeting a younger audience. The project is eying a debut date for sometime in mid 2023.

Following the original Step Up’s whopping $650 million at the global box office, it was a no-brainer for the studio to create a sequel. Then, that sequel became a huge success, so they moved forward to make a third film. All in all, a total of five movies based around different dancer’s struggles to get top crew bragging rights hit theaters. Moving the franchise’s success from the big screen to the television screen, Starz picked up a Step Up series which has recently gone into its third season. Although Channing Tatum starred in the first film, he would only make an appearance in the second movie before disappearing from the rest.

Channing Tatum, who famously worked as a go-go dancer and model before landing his gigs in Hollywood, made housewives everywhere scream when he ponied onto screens as the titular character in Magic Mike. Since the success of several franchise films (with a new one on the way), a live show, and most recently an HBO competition series, it was certainly an easy decision for Tatum to jump on board and do the same for Step Up. Teaming up with Free Association’s Peter Kiernan, who will be the CEO of FA Live, Tatum will work alongside Magic Mike writer Reid Carolin to serve the new company as co-chief creative officers. Bringing other colleagues on board, several of the Magic Mike Live show creatives will also help to shape the entertainment group’s newest production.

For Channing Tatum, life isn’t showing any signs of slowing down. Currently, the buff actor can be seen in Dog. A film about an Army Ranger’s journey alongside a Belgian malinois pup named Lulu on the way to a fallen peer’s funeral, the two travel down the Pacific Coast on a trip of self discovery blanketed in grief. Along with starring (as the Ranger, not the dog!) Tatum also co-directed the film with Carolin. Next, the triple threat will be seen opposite Sandra Bullock in the comedy action film, The Lost City. With the newest project and company on his plate, we can’t wait to see what’s next for Tatum and his career as he continues to skyrocket to the top.
