The School for Good and Evil is one of the most anticipated films that Netflix is currently working on. Especially considering Paul Feig is taking the driver’s seat with directing the feature. More than that is that the cast includes Charlize Theron, Kerry Washington, and Michelle Yeoh. The film follows the book series of the same name written by Soman Chainani. During the Women in Entertainment Summit, Feig also announced that A-lister Cate Blanchett has also joined the massive cast as the narrator of the film. This is already a huge cast list. The teaser trailer for the film was also released during Netflix’s Geeked Week. You can see the trailer below:

Oddly enough, it does not sound like Cate Blanchett in the teaser trailer narration, but we could be wrong. Either way, adding the actress to the already expansive cast is sure to excite fans even more. The trailer only shows Kerry Washington and Charlize Theron in their respective roles. Blanchett may have been added more recently, which would have not given her time to record her narration for the trailer. This is just speculation, but we are more than excited that she has been added to this film.

The School for Good and Evil follows two best friends: Sophie and Agatha. Sophie has dreams of being recruited into the School for Good, as she longs to follow in the footsteps of Cinderella and Snow White. Agatha, on the other hand, seems to be a shoo-in for the School for Evil. Her “evil” aesthetic and cat make her seem as though that is where she belongs. However, both girls are flip-flopped and end up in the opposite schools, which means that they might both not appear to be what they think they are. Sophia Anne Caruso has been cast in the role of Sophie, and Sofia Wylie has been cast as Agatha.

The School for Good and Evil already has an expansive cast, that includes Yeoh, Theron, Washington, Lawrence Fishburne, Ben Kinglsey, and now Cate Blanchett. Netflix seems to be going all-in on this new adaptation. The film is based on a book series, so this might just open up a brand-new franchise that Paul Feig can continue to explore. There haven’t been many film franchises that have been attached to streaming platforms of this caliber, so it might be time for Netflix to jump on it.

For now, there is no strict release date for The School for Good and Evil, though we may be seeing it sometime in the winter months. Halloween time would be a perfect time to see this story come out. The teaser trailer has dropped, which means the full trailer is not far behind. That trailer might bring in the voice of Cate Blanchett. Though, again, we are not sure if she is part of the teaser trailer. It does kind of sound like her, but we can’t be sure. Either way, the full trailer might introduce Blanchett’s signature voice. We are excited to see this new entry.
