If you weren’t already a fan of Carrie-Anne Moss, seeing her Matrix-inspired red carpet dress might just tip those scales. She isn’t just one of the most elegant starlets in Hollywood, she is also a big fan of her own work, as she donned a long black dress that was embedded with code reminiscent of the long-standing code that was introduced in the first Matrix film. Deep within the code of the dress was the designer’s name, Oscar de la Renta.
The Matrix 4 premiere went off without a hitch, and the word about the new film is overwhelmingly positive. That is fantastic news for all parties considered, as The Matrix has been a storied franchise since its inception in 1999. Although Lily Wachowski decided to step away from the entertainment industry, her partner and sister Lana Wachowski took over the reins for this new installment. Carrie-Anne Moss and Keanu Reeves are both reprising their respective roles as Trinity and Neo.
The Matrix 4 has not yet been released to audiences, but there are plenty of fan theories going around as to how both of these fan-favorite heroes have reappeared in the Matrix, being that both seemingly died in the original trilogy. There are growing assumptions that Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) was in fact “The One” all along, and her dress embedded in code might throw fans into a tizzy. Maybe she knew how to read the code all along? If that is the case, well played Mrs. Moss.
Although Carrie-Anne Moss and Keanu Reeves are reprising their roles, a slew of new faces has entered The Matrix 4. Two replacements are some of the most important characters in the franchise, which are Agent Smith and Morpheus. The new Agent Smith is being played by Jonathan Groff, from Hamilton, Glee, and Mindhunter. Morpheus has also been replaced by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who is famous for CandyMan, Us, and 2019’s Watchmen. It hasn’t been explicitly stated that it’s those exact characters, but we are led to believe that from the trailers.
The Matrix 4 is likely to bring plenty of surprises other than the would-be power shift of Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) truly being The One. Who knows, maybe we will all get treated to a reprised role from the clear missing piece of this puzzle, Laurence Fishburne. This is just speculation, but it would be nice to see all three actors reunited one final time, assuming that The Matrix 4 is the final film in which all three appear. This could spawn an additional trilogy.
Carrie-Anne Moss has been a fan-favorite for years, and Keanu Reeves is easily one of the film’s most beloved people, so it is heart-warming to see the success of The Matrix 4 from critics and those lucky enough to have been given a chance to see the film. The new chapter in the franchise is set to release on December 22, 2021. Only two days stand between the world and their collective existential crisis that is sure to follow after watching the new film.
