We must always remember to take care of ourselves, especially when it comes to those who are higher in age. Legendary musician, Carlos Santana, was involved in a very scary situation when he collapsed on stage during a performance in Michigan last night. The guitarist had apparently fainted due to heat exhaustion and was rushed to the hospital to be observed by medical professionals. The musician seems to be on the mend, as he updated fans about his condition via his Facebook page.

From the above picture and caption, things might have looked a lot more serious. We know for sure seeing a performer collapse on stage is never a good sight. Carlos Santana also happens to be 74 years old, so that situation is going to look quite severe no matter what happens. The musician updated his fans via his Facebook, explaining that he “forgot to eat and drink water” and he is now “taking it easy.” We are certainly in the middle of the summer months, and everyone must always remember to at least drink water. Having to be out in the sun for an extended period will certainly cause some damage if water is not consumed.

Carlos Santana was also meant to play a show tonight in Burgettstown, PA, but that has since been postponed. The man must think about his health, especially after collapsing. He could have easily hit his head or damaged another body part on the way down, which would have made things that much worse. The man had been through a significant heart surgery that caused him to cancel his shows in December of 2021. While that might not be linked to passing out from heat exhaustion, it is still something to think about. Those with heart conditions are meant to take things as easy as possible, and the stress of performing could cause more issues to appear.

Carlos Santana is currently on tour with Earth, Wind, & Fire, which is meant to run through August. However, with the summer months bringing in heat waves, it might be time to slow things down a bit. Santana’s wife posted on Instagram that the weather had been 100 degrees while on stage and 114 while under the lights. Anyone who had not consumed water and dealt with such severe heat would have certainly passed out or needed to sit down for a moment. It sounds as if the man might be taking some well-needed time off, which might come as a disappointment to his fans. However, his health must be #1.

Thankfully, it had also been reported that Carlos Santana popped up shortly after he had initially passed out, and he is resting. He did post a video response and stated that he would be taking it slow and getting the rest and relaxation that he needs. We are not sure what that means for the current tour, but there might be more than one date that is affected going forward. Hopefully, fans can understand this and allow the man the rest that he clearly needs.
