Brie Larson is already starring as one of the biggest characters in the biggest franchises around. Her Captain Marvel character has been key to saving the universe and has been critical in the fight against intergalactic ne’er-do-wells. But Marvel isn’t the only franchise she is set to have a major role in, or possibly even take over. That’s because The Express is reporting that Larsen will be moving into the Star Wars franchise and could become one of the most powerful characters that the world (galaxy) has ever seen.
This Brie Larsen news is part of a bigger grouping of rumors around what could happen with the Star Wars franchise moving forward when it comes to their films. We know the Disney+ group of series is currently dealing with The Mandalorian timelines as well as a look back at evens after Revenge of the Sith when it comes to the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. But the bigger question is how the next set of movies shape up and move the story in new directions. This is where Brie Larson comes in.
The character Brie Larson is set to possibly play is named Maeve and would be introduced in the timeline following the events of The Rise of Skywalker. Though few details are given about this character, it was intimated that she would be more powerful than “Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker combined”. This revelation is interesting in the sense that for the universe to keep growing, one would think the powers among the core group of Jedis would also have to ramp up as well. We’ve often dealt with main characters who are coming into their powers with sage-like mentors guiding the path. If Brie Larson played a character already at the culmination of her Jedi strength, then we could be in for a different type of story.
This latest reveal around Brie Larson joining the Star Wars franchise as a very powerful character was combined with another bit of story from the same report that could see another Jedi origin story. This was around the possibility of Rey having a child, born out of the Force between herself and Kylo Ren when he gave his life at the end of The Rise of Skywalker. It’s unclear how the character would relate to Maeve, but these seem to be parts of the same story.
In all, Brie Larson appears to be circling the Star Wars franchise with a major role in the works. And she’d only have to walk across the proverbial studio lot to get there considering she’s also currently firmly entrenched in the Captain Marvel role within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Captain Marvel 2 is currently in the works and will move the character’s timeline to the “present-day” following the events of Avengers: Endgame. It will be a huge film and she’s set to earn a major payday. And now she could be part of two blockbuster franchises. I’m sure we will start hearing more about this new role, one that could really shift the landscape of future Star Wars films.
