See Brendan Fraser As A 600-Pound Man
Brendan Fraser is set to return as the villain in Batgirl, but he is also taking on a new leading role where he will step into the shoes of a 600-pound man.
Everyone has been missing Brendan Fraser for quite some time. The man had taken some time off from acting, after appearing in several action films that took a toll on his body. Mainly, he was the star of the fantastic The Mummy franchise. Since then, he has slowly been working his way back to the top. He is set to appear in Batgirl as Firefly, which we are all excited about. However, one of his newest films sees the man take on a drastic amount of weight. Fraser is set to play a 600-pound man for his role in The Whale. You can see the image below:
The Whale is set to debut at the Venice Film Festival, and Brendan Fraser looks almost unrecognizable in the role. The above showcases some of the studio A24 releases, which tend to be a bit more artsy and provocative. We can imagine that is the case for Fraser when he takes on the role of a man that weighs 600 pounds. Darren Aronofsky is directing the new feature, and his resume speaks for itself. He has directed Pi, Requiem for a Dream, The Fountain, The Wrestler, Black Swan, and Mother! That is a great list of films that have long been discussed amongst cinema appreciators.
The Whale follows a reclusive English teacher who suffers from severe obesity. The man attempts to reconnect with his daughter one final time. The final time could be because being 600 pounds is not good for his health. Brenda Fraser is set to take on the protagonist role of Charlie. Joining Fraser in the film are Sadie Sink, Samantha Morton, Ty Simpkins, and Hong Chau. That is a stacked cast to be added to a film that could certainly hold some Oscar buzz for Mr. Fraser. The actor has claimed that this film is going to be something the world has not yet seen, especially something that he has never done in his career previously.
This will be the first film that Brendan Fraser has starred in since 2013 when his last leading role was sadly a straight-to-DVD film called Breakout. However, his comeback is starting to look quite strong. As previously mentioned, Fraser will be taking on the villainous role of Firefly in the Batgirl film. Also, he has a role to play in the new Martin Scorsese film, Killers of the Flower Moon. Things seem to be going quite well for the man, and the internet has been chock full of memes appreciating the once great action film star.
The Whale will officially be premiering at the Venice Film Festival from August 31 to September 10. The film festival is stacked with upcoming features from some of the most prominent directors. Darren Aronofsky, Alejandro G Iñárritu, Todd Field, Andrew Dominik, and Luca Guadagnino will all be presenting new films. That is just to name a few of the filmmakers in this year’s lineup. Hopefully, The Whale will release in theaters shortly after. We certainly want to see how Brendan Fraser navigates this role.
