See Aubrey Plaza as Marvel’s Mephisto

Nobody works harder than Marvel fans when it comes to envisioning their ideal actors and actresses in the roles of their favorite heroes and villains for upcoming projects. While she’s been cast in Agatha: Coven of Chaos in an undisclosed role, one fan is hoping that we’ll soon be seeing Aubrey Plaza step into the part of Mephisto in the Marvel series. Taking to Instagram to share his creative musings, user Bosslogic revealed his well-designed vision of Plaza in the villainous role via a colorful post, which you can see above.
The vibrantly penned creation features dazzling red and purples, drawing up Aubrey Plaza as the Marvel baddy. With glowing eyes, she holds a pen, signifying the character’s standing as a demonic entity ready to strike up a bargain with a desperate soul. To the side of Aubrey Plaza is the logo for Agatha: Coven of Chaos alluding to the fact that the artist is hoping to see the character come into play at some point during the upcoming series.
But the Instagram user may need to hold their horses, as a few weeks ago news broke that it most likely wouldn’t be Aubrey Plaza stepping into the role of Marvel’s Mephisto, but instead it seems likely that Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen would be taking on the devil himself in the upcoming series, Ironheart.
Created by Chinaka Hodge, and directed by Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes, the series will focus on Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne), an incredibly smart 15-year-old engineering student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Obsessed with Tony Stark’s Iron Man suit, the young woman takes on the challenge of creating a suit of her own and appoints herself with the name Ironheart when it’s finished.
While we can expect to see Riri Williams in the quickly approaching Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, we’ll need to wait a bit longer to see who will be stepping into the role of Mephisto. As of right now, Ironheart isn’t due out until the fall of 2023. With Agatha: Coven of Chaos coming out sometime in the winter of 2023, news surrounding Ironheart will most likely be our first tip off as to whether Aubrey Plaza will be stepping into the role of Marvel’s Mephisto or if the rumors surrounding Sacha Baron Cohen’s involvement are true.
No matter the case, we’re excited to see Aubrey Plaza, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Mephisto get their proper Marvel Cinematic due. A spin-off of the critically acclaimed WandaVision, Agatha: Coven of Chaos will focus on Kathryn Hahn’s breakout character who stole our hearts with her well-timed comedy bits and revelatory ear-worm tune.
When we last saw her, Agatha was hexed by Wanda aka the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) into believing that she was a regular citizen in the town of Westview, New Jersey – so clearly something’s going to give and Agatha will come back swinging and will probably be pretty ticked off that the Darkhold has not only been taken from her, but has also been destroyed.
