Atlas Heche Tupper

  • Born: March 2009
  • Mother: Anne Heche
  • Father: James Tupper

August 11, 2022, saw the sad and untimely death of Six Days, Seven Nights (1998) actress Anne Heche when she perished in a terrible and fiery car crash. With the recent release of Heche’s posthumous memoir, Call Me Anne, fans of the actress are curious to know more about her life and the loved ones she left behind. Heche is survived by two sons: Atlas Heche Tupper and Homer Laffoon.

Anne Heche’s oldest son, Homer Laffoon, age 20, was granted control over his mother’s estate after her death after several months of battling in court with Heche’s ex, James Tupper. Tupper, who is the father of Laffoon’s half-brother, 14-year-old Atlas Heche Tupper, argued in court that Laffoon was not old enough to run the late actress’s estate, as well as not suitable due to the fact that Laffoon is currently unemployed.

In addition to ruling Laffoon as the controller of Heche’s estate, a judge also denied James Tupper guardianship over his son, Atlas Heche Tupper, and granted Laffoon as Tupper’s legal guardian.

Here is everything we know about Anne Heche’s youngest son, Atlas Heche Tupper.

ATLAS HECHE TUPPER IS 14 YEARS OLD. HE IS A TENNIS PLAYER AND ACTOR

Atlas Heche Tupper is the son of Anne Heche and James Tupper. Though his parents were never married, they considered themselves “eternally engage” and were together for more than 10 years. Tupper is the younger half-brother of Homer Laffoon, the son of Anne Heche and cameraman Coleman “Coley” Laffoon. 20-year-old Homer Laffoon is the current legal guardian for his younger brother after their mother’s sudden death last fall.

According to Atlas Heche Tupper’s Instagram account, the young teenager is a tennis player and athlete. Tupper also had a small part in the movie Wildfire: The Legend of the Cherokee Ghost Horse.

The family film about a young girl who befriends a wild horse features the themes of redemption and forgiveness. The movie is slated to be Anne Heche’s final screen performance, as she shot it just before her death. Tupper plays the part of J.J. in the film.

ATLAS HECHE TUPPER’S PARENTS ARE ANNE HECHE AND JAMES TUPPER

Atlas Heche Tupper’s mother, Anne Heche, was a prolific actress who accrued 88 credits in television and film before the time of her death. She will have five projects released posthumously. Heche began her acting career on the soap opera Another World (1987-1991), where she played two characters: twins named Vicky Hudson and Marley Love.

She switched from television to film with the independent feature Walking and Talking (1996) and rose to further prominence when she starred next to Harrison Ford in Six Days, Seven Nights (1998).

In the late ’90s, Heche’s high-profile relationship with Ellen DeGeneres earned the pair the title of “the first gay supercouple.” However, the relationship ended on bad terms when Heche left DeGeneres for cameraman Coley Laffoon, whom she hired to film Ellen DeGeneres: American Summer. Laffoon filed for divorce from Heche after five years of marriage and the birth of their son, Homer.

In 2007, Heche met James Tupper, and the pair would later co-star together in the 2013 horror film Nothing Left to Fear. While the couple never married, they described themselves as “eternally engaged,” that is until they separated after 11 years together in 2018. In 2009, Heche gave birth to her second son, Atlas Heche Tupper.

James Tupper is a Canadian actor who is best known for portraying Jack Slattery on ABC’s Men In Trees. It was on the set of this show that Tupper would meet Heche, who starred in 36 episodes of the series. After Heche’s death, Tupper aimed to get parental guardianship of his son, Atlas Heche Tupper but was denied in court. The guardianship was given to Atlas’s older brother, Homer, instead.

ANNE HECHE DIED IN AUGUST 2022. SHE WAS 53 YEARS OLD

On August 5, 2022, Anne Heche was in a bizarre car accident that involved three total collisions with her Mini Clubman BMW. The first collision took place when Heche’s vehicle struck the garage of an apartment, causing minor damage. Next, the Mini Clubman struck a Jaguar, and Heche left the scene of the collision without stopping. The driver of the Jaguar did not sustain any injuries.

The final collision took place when Heche’s Mini Clubman burst into the side of a home, startling the resident of the house, who was in the back of the building with her pets. The collision with the house caused a fire in Heche’s vehicle, which she was trapped inside, and then spread to destroy the home she had crashed into.

It took 45 minutes for firefighters to rescue Heche from the car, and she was then brought to the hospital, where she died a week later due to inhalation injuries.

Though Heche’s initial autopsy reported narcotics in the actress’s system, a more thorough autopsy showed that the cocaine and cannabinoids in the report had been from a previous instance. The final report showed that Heche was not under the influence of anything at the time of the crash.

Heche left behind her two sons, Homer Laffoon, and Atlas Heche Tupper.
