After what feels like the longest wait ever, we finally have more information surrounding Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Netflix series debut. And, while we’ve known that Monica Barbaro (Top Gun: Maverick) would be joining Schwarzenegger to star, mum’s been the word surrounding any other casting decisions. Now, finally, we have some news! Joining Schwarzenegger and Barbaro in what will be a spy-themed adventure series are a slew of top-tier names including Gabriel Luna, Jay Baruchel, Fabiana Udenio, Aparna Brielle, Andy Buckley, Milan Carter, Fortune Feimster, Barbara Eve Harris, and Travis Van Winkle. Woah. What a stacked cast!
For those who may not know, or need a refresher, the yet-to-be-named series will center around a father named Luke (Arnold Schwarzenegger) and his daughter, Emma, (Monica Barbaro) who have both been working for the CIA without the other one knowing. Upon the shocking discovery, the two realize that they don’t really know each other and set out to change that. What ensues is rib-busting comedy tangled up with family dynamics that we can all relate to.
With lots of names holding credits for their roles in some fan-favorite comedy productions, the newly tapped talent for the Arnold Schwarzenegger series is sure to keep the laughs coming. Here’s what we know so far about the fresh rollout of names. Gabriel Luna (The Last of Us) will appear as an Oxford business graduate. But don’t let his pretentious credentials fool you, he uses his genius to help him perform his duties as an illegal arms dealer. Fabiana Udenio (Jane the Virgin) will be featured as Tally, Emma’s mom and Luke’s (Arnold Schwarzenegger’s) ex-wife. Just as out of the loop as the father daughter team were about each other, Tally also has no idea that her two family members work for the CIA.
Jay Baruchel (Tropic Thunder) will step into the role of Carter, Emma’s boyfriend who doesn’t have the slightest idea as to what his girlfriend has been up to during her working hours. Aparna Brielle (A.P. Bio) is someone who actually knows what’s going on! Her character is an NSA analyst for the CIA who works alongside Emma and Luke on their newest mission. The Office’s Andy Buckley is hoping to fill the big shoes of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Luke as Tally’s new boyfriend. His nice guy persona will be put to the ultimate test when he needs to stick up for himself when Luke tries to cozy up to his ex-wife.
Joining the secret operative team alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger and Monica Barbaro will be The Neighborhood’s Milan Carter. No stranger to the world of the CIA, Carter’s character has been on the force and working alongside Luke for two decades. Fortune Feimster (The Mindy Project) is another CIA coworker who is described as witty and clever with a professional admiration for Luke. Barbara Eve Harris (Sharp Objects) will stand at the head of it all as the Regional Director of the CIA. Finally, Travis Van Winkle (The Last Ship) will fill out the CIA team alongside Emma and Luke.
Finding a cast when your leading names are Arnold Schwarzenegger and Monica Barbaro is a tough task, but it looks like casting absolutely nailed this one. And with the call sheet now released, we can keep our eyes peeled for other updates surrounding production on the new series. Maybe someday soon we’ll even get a project title!
