Arnold Schwarzenegger Allegedly Farted In Female Co-Star’s Face

This is not the story you expected to read today is it?

You know, considering all the big blockbuster action films Arnold Schwarzenegger has starred in during his career, it isn’t very surprising to learn that one of those films included an unexpected explosion. What’s perhaps a bit more surprising is that it was the Governator himself who allegedly created that explosion in order to humiliate a co-star. That, in a sense, is what happened over two decades ago when the actor allegedly farted in the face of Miriam Margolyes while filming the 1999 action horror bomb End of Days.

The 81-year-old Miriam Margolyes recently appeared on the Australian podcast I’ve Got News For You (via Business Insider) when she was asked if there were any actors she didn’t like working with. It was Arnold Schwarzenegger’s name that came up, in reference to a fight scene from End of Days. “He was actually quite rude. He farted in my face,” Margolyes claimed. “Now, I fart, of course, I do — but I don’t fart in people’s faces. He did it deliberately, right in my face. I was playing Satan’s sister and he was killing me, so he had me in a position where I couldn’t escape and lying on the floor. And he just farted.”

Now that you’ve caught wind of this alleged assault, don’t bother trying to find the moment in the film. According to Margolyes, Arnold Schwarzengger got away with showing her what the backside of a T-800 is truly capable of without his posterior’s poff being recorded for posterity. “It wasn’t on film,” Margolyes recalled. “[I]t was in one of the pauses, but I haven’t forgiven him for it.” Indeed, a quick IMDb Collaborations search shows the pair haven’t appeared in anything together since.

Though she only appeared in two of the eight pre-Fantastic Beasts films, Miriam Margolyes is best known as the wizard Professor Sprout from the Harry Potter films. She first showed up in the second film, 2002’s Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and returned for the very end with 2011’s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. If the alleged farting took place, it would unfortunately have happened before either of those films. Otherwise, you would think Arnold Schwarzenegger would use the opportunity to work in one of his one-liners. Like maybe, “Make magic out of that.” Or, assuming he knew a thing or two about the lore: “Hufflepuff loses 50 points, the hard way.”

So far, Arnold Schwarzenegger has yet to respond to the allegations, but if he did in fact cut the cheese in Professor Sprout’s face on purpose, it seems like a pretty petty thing for a guy that successful thing to do. It’s perhaps a little tempting to speculate that something was gnawing at the actor about how the title End of Days could also refer to his time as an action star. All we need to do is point out his last film before End of Days was 1997’s Batman & Robin to drive the point home that by 1999, Schwarzenegger was very much not getting to da choppa like he used to. Maybe a scene in which his character was fighting an older women (a supernaturally empowered older women, but still) was too much for his ego to bear?
