Anthony Mackie Wants To Destroy Chris Evans’s Best Marvel Fight Scene

Anthony Mackie wants a fight scene that tops the elevator fight scene that Chris Evans had as Captain America.

Anthony Mackie is officially Marvel’s new Captain America, so it makes sense he would want a Captain America-level fight scene. In an interview with E! News, Mackie pointed out one fight scene in particular that he’d like to top — the elevator scene in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Mackie explained, “I just want a fight scene that rivals that.”

That’s definitely a fair request for Anthony Mackie to make. The fight scenes from Captain America: The Winter Soldier are easily some of the best Marvel has put out. The scene in question pits Chris Evans‘ Steve Rogers against an elevator full of Hydra agents, which he comes out on top of. If they can match that level of fight choreography in Captain America: New World Order, we’ll definitely be in for a treat and Mackie will probably be more than satisfied.

Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson was given the shield from Steve Rogers at the end of Avengers: Endgame. Initially, he was reluctant to take on the mantle and content to keep his role as the Falcon. However, he eventually decided to take on the shield by the end of the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

The Falcon and the Winter Solider also added a temporary Captain America to the mix with Wyatt Russell’s John Walker. However, Walker couldn’t handle the shield and ended up as the anti-hero U.S. Agent by the end of the series. We’ll be seeing him again in the anti-hero team-up film Thunderbolts, which will also feature Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Red Guardian (David Harbour), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), and the Winter Solider himself Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan).

Although we got to see Anthony Mackie briefly in action as Captain America by the end of The Falcon and the Winter Solider, we only got a taste of what he’ll bring to the table. The costume looks amazing, and Mackie perfectly fits the role, but fans are definitely clamoring for Mackie to get more screen time as the character. With Captain America: New World Order we’ll get to see what he can do with a full feature-length movie.

One thing seems certain; Anthony Mackie is definitely going to put in the work to make sure the fight scenes live up to or even surpass, the original Captain America. We’ll just have to wait and see how things pan out. Captain America: New World Order is set to come out in 2024, so we have a little while to wait.

Fortunately, Marvel has packed the upcoming years with plenty more shows and movies. The Disney+ series She-Hulk is currently airing, and it will be an especially important one to watch if you’re invested in Anthony Mackie’s ongoing Marvel story. It seems like She-Hulk may be teeing up the return of Tim Blake Nelson’s Leader, who is set to be the main villain facing off against Sam Wilson in Captain America: New World Order.

You can check out She-Hulk on Disney+, with new episodes airing every Thursday. You can also check out Black Panther: Wakanda Forever when it hits theaters on November 11. Marvel will round out the year with a holiday special for Halloween and one for Christmas.
