Deadline has reported Sony Pictures just pre-brought the rights to Freud’s Last Session, which stars Anthony Hopkins as Sigmund Freud and Matthew Goode as C.S. Lewis. Matt Brown directs the adaptation which is based on a play by Mark St. Germain. St. Germain adapted the screenplay as well.

The film will depict Anthony Hopkins as Sigmund Freud near the end of his life, right on the recipe of World War II. Freud’s Last Session follows the famed neurologist and founder of psychoanalysis as he invites over author C.S. Lewis to have a debate on the existence of God. The movie also explores Freud’s relationship with his daughter and his romantic relationship with his best friend’s mother.

Freud’s Last Session seems like the perfect fit for Anthony Hopkins, who really excels in those leading dramatic roles. The film is also being distributed by SPC, who was the distributor for The Father — a film that netted Hopkins a Best Actor win. Hopkins set a record for being the oldest to win an acting Oscar, so maybe he can make history again by playing an iconic figure like Sigmund Freud.

While there’s no release date for Anthony Hopkins’ Freud’s Last Session, we can see the Academy Award-winning actor much sooner in his upcoming film Armageddon Time. Armageddon Time is a coming-of-age story about family and the American Dream directed and written by James Gray. The film comes out this Friday and also stars Anne Hathaway, Jeremy Strong, Banks Repeta, Jaylin Webb, Andrew Polk, and Jessica Chastain.

Another Anthony Hopkins film we’ll get to see before Freud’s Last Session is The Son, which is getting a limited release on November 25. The Son stars Hugh Jackman as Peter, a man whose life with his wife and baby is thrown into disarray when his ex-wife shows up with their teenage son. Along with Jackman and Hopkins, the film stars Vanessa Kirby, Laura Dern, Zen McGrath, William Hope, and Isaura Barbe-Brown.

Anthony Hopkins has several films in various phases of production along with Freud’s Last Session, which is now in the pre-production stages. According to IMDb, Hopkins’ film One Life is in post-production and stars Hopkins and Johnny Flynn as the older and younger version of Nicholas Winton, a British humanitarian who saved hundreds of children during World War II. The film is directed by James Hawes and also stars Helena Bonham Carter, Romola Garai, Lena Olin, Adrian Rawlins, Alex Sharp, Samantha Spiro, Marthe Keller, and Jonathan Pryce.

As for his next big blockbuster, Anthony Hopkins is set to have a role in Zach Synder’s Rebel Moon, which is a big-budget sci-fi about a young woman sent out as an emissary to enlist the help of warriors to help defend her planet from an invading tyrant. The star-studded cast includes Sofia Boutella, Charlie Hunnam, Cary Elwes, Jena Malone, Ed Skrein, Corey Stoll, Ray Fisher, Michiel Huisman, Cleopatra Coleman, Ingvar Sigurdsson, and Djimon Hounsou. The screenplay was penned by Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad, along with Zach Synder.
