The #MeToo movement that began in 2017 in the entertainment industry began to paint a horrific light on the treatment that women have had to endure, not just while trying to make a name for themselves, but to the countless women who had been sexually harassed or abused around the world. It seems that the movement continues to do its work, as more celebrities are coming out and sharing their stories, which now include Anna Faris, who has now accused the late Ivan Reitman of “slapping my a**.” While she had spoken about this situation happening in the past, she never named the director that engaged in doing so, until now.

Ivan Reitman

During a recent interview on her Unqualified podcast, Anna Faris explained she had been on the set of My Super Ex-Girlfriend, when she described the situation where she alleges that Reitman smacked her on her bottom, and yelled at her, demeaning her in front of the entire cast and crew for the movie. She explained that it left her feeling, “angry, hurt, and humiliated.” When she had been asked if anyone came to her aid when it happened, she stated, “No. It was, like, 2006.”

Unfortunately, before the #MeToo movement, there were plenty of stories that ultimately led to situations that Anna Faris spoke so candidly about. She also explained that Ivan Reitman would come to the set of the movie and bring someone down, and on her first day, that person had been her. She also recounted that Reitman spoke to her agent and stated that Faris had been hired because of her “great legs.”

Anna Faris was speaking to Lena Dunham on her podcast, who is also an actress and filmmaker, and Dunham stated that she had previously heard about Reitman’s behavior being lined up with what Faris revealed. Faris also revealed that she could only giggle at what had happened, but she felt horrified when having to look at the cast and crew, while they waited for her to respond to what had transpired.

Ivan Reitman is a famed director who is responsible for both Ghostbusters movies, Twins, Kindergarten Cop, and Junior. He also produced Space Jam and Animal House. While Anna Faris might anger a lot of people with her revelation, considering that Reitman is dead, she had to share her story with the world. The abuses that women have revealed through these past five years need to happen so that the world can see the horrific treatment that people have had to endure at the hands of those in power.

We are not sure what is going to happen with Anna Faris coming forward and naming her abuser finally, but we would imagine that Ivan Reitman’s children are going to be quite upset about this revelation. His daughter (Catherine Reitman) is the creator of the hit series, Workin’ Moms, and his son, Jason, also directed the Ghostbusters: Afterlife reboot movie. We would hope that Faris is going to feel some sort of closure for finally being able to reveal her alleged abuser, despite the negativity she is likely to receive for doing so.
