Amber Heard continues to be the focus of rampant speculation and rumor in regards to her involvement in Aquaman 2. The online petition to remove her from the production continues to gather signatures and outlets continue to run any rumor they can find about the actress. Today’s grist for the mill centers around the idea that Amber Heard has been fired from Aquaman 2 for breaching the health clause in her contract. This bit of reporting comes from the Australian outlet Sausage Roll. Another outlet, Small Screen, goes so far as to speculate that drug use could be what was involved in the health clause of the contract. They stress that this is just speculation on their part.

If Amber Heard had been fired from Aquaman 2, we are willing to bet we would hear more confirmation reports from larger outlets rather than Sausage Roll. Such a big change to the production would be very tough to keep under wraps and would almost assuredly leak out into the mainstream press. With all of the drama and gossip that has been surrounding the actress, you can bet such a seismic piece of news would cause deep reverberations throughout the entertainment press world. Basically, if this was true, we would be hearing about it from way more publications.

As of now, the official party line over at Warner Bros. has been nothing but supportive of Amber Heard as she continues to face intense public scrutiny due to her ongoing legal battles with ex-husband Johnny Depp. With Aquaman 2 getting ready to go into production, we would think that any major news involving the actress would have been announced by Warner Bros. themselves. Disney seemed to have no problem issuing an official statement when they cut ties with Gina Carano. If the studio really felt that Amber Heard was going to be a major liability to their bottom line, they almost assuredly would have made a judgment call on keeping her involved in the DC Extended Universe at this point. Barring some extreme change to that plan, it seems fair to say that Amber Heard is still on board for the superhero sequel.

We have heard plenty of wild rumors that range from Warner Bros. replacing her with Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke to the script being rewritten to focus on multiple female characters to take the focus off the character of Mera. Nothing has been substantiated at this point and the studio continues to stay in Amber Heard’s corner throughout this whole process. At this point, until we hear something concrete from Warner Bros./DC that strays from their previous statement of support, we have got to start questioning the validity and good faith of all these rumors.

Aquaman 2 is currently slated to release in theaters on December 16, 2022. Production is about to get underway so if Amber Heard is getting the sack, it seems like Warner Bros./DC has a very small amount of time left to cut her loose. We will simply have to wait and see how it all shakes out.
