Alison Brie Wants To Be Marvel’s Next Big Villain

It looks like Alison Brie wants a part in the Marvel Cinematic Universe though it isn't on the hero side. No, she wants to break bad

It’s getting to the point that if you are basically anyone in Hollywood these days, it would stand to reason you are going to land in a superhero or comic book movie (or franchise) before it’s all said and done. That’s just the way things seem like they are going and the studios are still (mostly) in such growth mode that there are just plenty of roles coming down the pike. Whether it’s playing a hero or villain, we are seeing more and more top talents enter these ranks, some of them in a surprising way. Well, we have another one who wants to come on board with Alison Brie telling Comic Book that she fancies a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And if she had her druthers then she’d come out on the villain side of things.

Alison Brie was speaking with the outlet about a movie she was coming out called Spin Me Round, but the talk did turn to Marvel seeing as how her name had been bandied about when it originally came to She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. She didn’t get into that role, but clearly, there was some mutual interest here and Brie admitted that she’s thought about a turn in the MCU. While she didn’t get specific about parts she was eyeing, there seemed to be a theme of what kind of character she’d like to take on were to ever happen. Check out part of what Alison Brie had to say about a stint in Marvel:

“Nothing specifically that I have set my sights on, no, and I think that would be a mistake, because clearly you can’t really dictate. Marvel’s going to do their thing… I think there’s a fantasy deep in my mind that one day I would get to play a great Marvel villain, but I don’t know which one that would be…send me some ideas so I can start the campaign.”

We’ve reached a point with the MCU, and to some degree, the DC Extended Universe (what’s left of it) that the productions are so big and far-reaching that playing the villain can have as much cache as the actual heroes. Sometimes there’s even a blurred line about who’s who. With some meatier roles coming in the Marvel Cinematic Universe specifically, it’s no wonder actresses and actors wouldn’t mind stepping into the evil side of things. Heck, Christian Bale is coming off playing Gorr the God Butcher and Jonathan Majors is stepping into the big bad boss role of Kang the Conqueror. Heck, Vincent D’Onofrio is holding it down as Kingpin, and we all know what Josh Brolin did with Thanos. Or maybe she’s taking a page from Julia Louis-Dreyfus who’s playing Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. Sometimes, the villain is the way to go. It would appear that Alison Brie understands that.

As for Alison Brie, well, this Marvel mention also didn’t just come out of nowhere. She’s taking part in Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, an animated series based on the titular characters. Brie doesn’t have a starring role, but she will guest at some point. She’s also starring in the aforementioned Somebody I Used to Know and Freelance which is currently in pre-production. The Community and GLOW star is one of the most talented actresses around and it would be cool to see Marvel take her in the villain direction. It would definitely be a departure from what we’ve seen of Alison Brie in the past.
