Action Movies In Development
The Mummy | Early Development
With The Invisible Man receiving rave reviews Universal Pictures is looking to get more of their classic movie monsters in theaters. Next up: The Mummy.
They tried to resurrect The Mummy a couple of years ago with Tom Cruise, but that failed utterly. Now word is they are going a different direction and working on a project that’s more like the Brendan Fraser, action oriented, period-specific Mummy series. Except they’re doing it without Brendan Fraser. Instead of Fraser they are reportedly talking to Ryan Gosling to lead the redo.
Indiana Jones 5 | In Production
Lucasfilm and Disney have confirmed that Indiana Jones 5 really is happening. What’s more it’s happening soon. The movie will start shooting in April of 2020, according to Harrison Ford.
Here’s what Harrison had to say about returning to shoot more Indiana Jones, “Y’know, running around in tight pants and high boots. I’ll give you a more appropriate answer considering that I’m gonna start doing Indiana Jones in about two months, I’m always delighted to come back to these characters. When we have the opportunity to make another it’s because people have enjoyed them. I feel obliged to make sure that our efforts are as ambitious as they were when we started. You have a sense of responsibility to your customers.“
Harrison Ford is currently 77-years-old and most people thought he was way too old to play Indiana Jones when Indiana Jones 4 was released back in 2008. So how much is he really in this movie? Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy clarified…
“Oh, Harrison Ford will be involved. It’s not a reboot. It’s a continuation.“– -Kathleen Kennedy on whether Harrison Ford will do Indiana Jones 5
It’s worth noting that in the above quote she says he “will be involved”. She didn’t say he’ll star in it or that it’ll be all about him. However, Kennedy does insist that when it comes to Harrison Ford returning, “Oh, yeah. He can’t wait. He absolutely is [involved].” Again that word “involved”.
It could be, in fact given Harrison Ford’s age it seems entirely likely, that Indiana Jones 5 will be all about handing off this action movie franchise to a new actor. They actually kind of tried to do that with Indiana Jones 4, which involved Shia LaBeouf as his son Mutt. But Shia LaBeouf is crazy and nobody really liked his character or that movie. So now they’ll try again.
One of the rumors around this production is that Indy 5 will actually be about Indiana Jones’s daughter. Yes, apparently he had a secret daughter nobody knew about in addition to that secret son from the last movie. That also fits with Disney’s most recent mandate to make more of their franchises diverse.
Mad Max: The Wasteland | In Development
Mad Max: Fury Road was a huge success when it came out in 2015. It not only did well at the box office, it got rave reviews from critics and audiences, some of whom called it one of the greatest action movies ever made. That left everyone primed for another one, but since it took franchise creator twenty-years to get that one made, everyone assumed it might be a long time before we got another Mad Max. But it’s happening right now.
The next Mad Max movie has been greenlit and it’s called Mad Max: The Wasteland. GWW reports that director George Miller is set to start working on the new action movie this fall, after he finishes directing another movie called Three Thousand Years of Longing.
Tom Hardy has not been confirmed to return for Mad Max: The Wasteland, but it’s safe to assume they’re talking to him. There’s also a chance they could get Charlize Theron back. Despite the titling of Mad Max: Fury Road her character, Furiosa, was actually the star of the previous movie, not Hardy’s Max. Actually, the real star of the movie was the incredible, eye-popping stunts. As long as Mad Max: The Wasteland has more of that, I don’t think it matters who acts in it.
Pirates of the Caribbean Reboot| Early Development
Back in 2018 Disney announced they were working on a reboot of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. They even hired Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick to script it. Perhaps most importantly, they announced that Johnny Depp would not be allowed to return as Captain Jack Sparrow.
At the time Johnny Depp has been accused of domestic abuse by actress Amber Heard and many speculated that the decision not to let him be involved was due, in part at least, to this controversy. Now though, it seems that those accusations may have been unfounded and recent reports allege that Depp was actually the victim in the altercations with his now ex-wife. So Johnny Depp’s fans have gone to work to try and get him his job back.
A petition has been launched asking Disney to hire Johnny Depp for the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie. As of this writing, the petition, which has only been up for a couple of days, already has nearly 70,000 signatures.
As for the Pirates of the Caribbean reboot, we haven’t heard much about it since 2018. By now the script is likely complete and given how much money this franchise has made Disney in the past, it’s likely in active development.
The A-Team – TBA
According to We Got This Covered, Disney is developing a new A-Team movie. The franchise was acquired by the company in their buyout of Fox’s library and they’re now working on developing a new film.
The A-Team was turned into a movie once, back in 2010, but that movie was more of a reboot of the TV show than a sequel. Word is that this version will actually be a sequel to the television show, existing in the same universe as the beloved characters we know. That also leaves room for Mr. T to appear in a cameo, maybe as a grizzled elderly veteran coaching up the new kids.
Currently rumor has Disney considering Will Smith and Guardians of the Galaxy’s Dave Bautista to star in their new A-Team action movie. If they can’t get them, Disney is eager to snare some kind of big name talent to topline the film, so expect this to end up starring someone equally noteworthy.
Enemy Of The State 2 – TBA
The original Enemy of the State was released in 1998, one year after Men in Black, during the period in Will Smith’s career where he’d just begun establishing himself as a huge box office draw. Back then he was as known for the music videos he’d release with the movies he starred in, as much as the movies themselves.
But Enemy of the State was different. A taut, well-crafted action movie which let Will Smith show off his acting ability by playing off one of the greatest actors of all time in Gene Hackman. It opened at $20 million, earning over $100 million during its run, and Hollywood viewed it as a modest hit. Now, more than twenty years later, it’s coming back.
We Got This Covered says a sequel is in the works with Will Smith being targeted to return and star as Robert Clayton Dean. Since the events of the first movie he now works for the government, and is sent to track down a young man accused of a cyber crime. When Dean discovers his target is innocent, he sets out to try and help him clear his name. It sounds a lot like Smith is taking on the Gene Hackman role from the first movie, with the newcomer as the new protagonist.
The themes of the original Enemy of the State are more relevant than ever. It focused on ideas of government corruption and the use of facial recognition and other technology to spy on citizens. At the time a lot of it seemed like science fiction, but now that science fiction is our reality.
National Treasure 3 – TBA
Disney and producer Jerry Bruckheimer are working on a third movie in the National Treasure franchise. Chris Bremner, who most recently wrote Bad Boys For Life, has been hired to write the action movie’s script.
No word yet on whether Nicholas Cage will return, but given that his recent track record indicates he’ll do almost anything for money, it seems likely. Also no word yet on whether director John Turtletaub will be back, but in 2018 he told /Film that if National Treasure 3 happened “I would make it tomorrow.”
The second and last entry in the series, National Treasure: Book of Secrets, was released way back in 2007. It grossed $457 million worldwide and given that box office success it’s surprising that it’s taken Disney this long to make National Treasure 3 happen.
Bad Boys 4 – TBA
The third action movie entry in the Bad Boys series earned solid critical reviews and jumped off to a solid start at the box office with a $6.36 million opening night. Now we’re getting another one. Bad Boys 4 is being worked on.
Chris Bremner, who wrote Bad Boys For Life (aka Bad Boys 3), has been hired by Sony to write Bad Boys 4. THR says Sony’s plan is to have less lag time between Bad Boys For Life and the release of Bad Boys 4, than there was between Bad Boys 2 and 3. That means the movie is being fast-tracked and they’ll be pushing hard to get it out as soon as possible.
Both Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are expected to return for Bad Boys 4. Of course, there is no movie without the two of them, so if one of them suddenly decides not to be involved the whole project will die on the vine. But for now, it looks like they’re Bad Boys for life.
Kung Fu Remake – TBA
The race to mine the past for new ideas continues, this time Universal Pictures has gone all the way back to 1972 and bought the rights to the classic television series Kung Fu. They’re planning to turn it into a movie and work is already underway.
The original series was a hit due almost entirely to the presence of David Carradine as a master martial artist serenely wandering the old west and kicking ass. In the eighties the series was resurrected as Kung Fu: The Legend Continues and it featured Carradine’s Shaolin monk character Kwai Chang Caine and his son, kicking ass together in the mean streets of the modern world.
The new Universal Pictures movie will remake the 1972 version of the story, set in the Old West. Deadline says they’ve hired the David Leitch to turn Kung Fu into a movie. If you’re not familiar with Leitch’s considerable action movie credentials, he was the co-director of John Wick, director of Deadpool 2, and more recently the director of the action hit Hobbs & Shaw. He knows what he’s doing and Kung Fu couldn’t possibly be in better hands.
Ed Spielman, the original creator of the 1972 Kung Fu television series, will also be involved as an executive producer.
Lethal Weapon 5 | Early Development
I don’t think anyone saw this sequel coming. Danny Glover and Mel Gibson are ancient. Mel Gibson has been persona non-grata in Hollywood for years following some of his drunken tirades. Yet somehow, this is a movie that not only seems to be in development, it’s in development with Glover and Gibson set to return.
The news comes from THR where they interviewed franchise producer Dan Lin. He had this to say: “We’re trying to make the last Lethal Weapon movie. And Dick Donner’s coming back. The original cast is coming back. And it’s just amazing. The story itself is very personal to him. Mel and Danny are ready to go, so it’s about the script.”
“Dick Donner” is 89-year-old director Richard Donner. He directed all four previous Lethal Weapon movies, including the last one which debuted way back in 1998. That’s right, it’s been more than twenty-years now since Lethal Weapon 4.
The biggest surprise here is that anyone from the original cast is even able to return, let alone wants to. What will Lethal Weapon 5 look like if half the cast and its director are working from wheelchairs? It’s hard to imagine, but we may yet find out.
The Rocketeer Reboot | Early Development
Released back in 1991 to mediocre response, The Rocketeer has become something of a cult hit in the interim. Now that the movie is beloved, Disney sees potential to bring it back so they’ve been working on a reboot.
- For details on what they’re planning visit our guide to The Rocketeer 2.
The Next James Bond Movie | Early Development
No Time To Die is probably Daniel Craig’s last James Bond movie and the search is on to find the next James Bond. We don’t know who it’ll be yet, but that hasn’t stopped people from betting on it. The online betting agency Ladbrokes is taking odds and while there are a lot of men you can bet on, they say by far the woman with the best odds to win the part right now is former Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke.
Not only is Clarke beating out all the women in their pool, she’s also beating out a lot of the men. Clarke has a 1/33 chance of getting the role That means She’s ahead of people like up and coming The Gentlemen star Henry Golding or Charlie Hunnam. And she’s way ahead of aging stars like Will Smith and Colin Farrell with a 1/100 chance and an outsider like David Beckham with a 1/250 chance. Seriously people, who’s betting on David Beckham?
But what do gamblers know about casting? Probably not much. Though gender-swapping roles has been a trend recently in Hollywood, long-time James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli says that will never happen with James Bond. She explains…
“He can be of any color, but he is male. I believe we should be creating new characters for women – strong female characters. I’m not particularly interested in taking a male character and having a woman play it. I think women are far more interesting than that.”– -Barbara Broccoli on why James Bond Will Never Be A Woman
Not only is No Time To Die likely to be Daniel Craig’s last James Bond movie, it may also be the last Bond movie released by MGM Studios. Yahoo reports that the company is currently in talks to sell its name and its entire catalogue of films, including the James Bond franchise.
It seems two different streaming services are vying to buy James Bond from MGM, according to the report. Those two bidders are Apple and Netflix.
While MGM owns a number of big name titles (for instance they’re behind the Handmaid’s Tale on Hulu), none are bigger than Bond. It’s likely that acquiring the James Bond franchise is one of the primary motivations behind Netflix and Apple’s bids to buy MGM.
Action Movies With Release Dates
Guns Akimbo – February 28, 2020
Hogwarts is long gone. Daniel Radcliffe is all grown up and suddenly he’s doing a totally bonkers action movie. The plot of Guns Akimbo involves Radcliffe’s character literally having guns bolted to his hands. He’s then forced to participate in a city-wide game of death in which a gang called SKIZM forces contestants to battle to the death.
The movie’s first trailer make it look like something you’d expect from Jason Statham, not Daniel Radcliffe. It’s nuts. Watch the first trailer for Guns Akimbo below…
Spenser Confidential – March 6, 2020
Mark Wahlberg has teamed up with director Peter Berg for this action movie about an ex-cop named Spenser, just getting out of prison. His ex-mentor talks him into helping a promising young boxer named Hawk and along the way they get involved in trying to take down the corrupt cops who framed him in the first place.
Here’s the first trailer for Spenser Confidential…
If you watched the trailer and though “hey this seems a lot like the 80s TV show Spencer For Hire” then you know your 80s TV shows. Both this movie and that old TV show were inspired by the same book, Robert B.Parker’s Wonderland by author Ace Atkins.
Spenser Confidential will skip theaters and debut directly on Netflix March 6, 2020.
My Spy – March 13, 2020
Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy, Stuber) stars in My Spy as a CIA agent caught by a precocious nine-year-old spying on her family while on a routine surveillance operation. In order to keep her from talking and blowing his cover, he agrees to show her how to become a spy. What at first seems simple becomes a battle of wits between the hardened agent and the nine-year-old girl in this action movie.
Mulan – March 27, 2020
Disney is back with another live-action movie remake of an animated favorite. This Mulan, though, follows more the Chinese story “The Ballad of Mulan” rather than their own animated classic.
The Emperor of China decrees that one man per family must serve in the Imperial Chinese Army to fight the Huns. But Mulan’s father, the only male in the family, is ailing, so she disguises herself as a man to take his place. The question concerning this version is how much of the animated film will be kept in this live-action version.
We do know that neither the magical dragon Mushu (voiced by Eddie Murphy in the Disney animated movie) nor any of the songs from the animated movie will be a part of this version of Mulan. In fact there won’t be any singing or any magic at all. When asked why, the live-action Mulan’s director had this to say…
“I mean, back to the realism question – we don’t tend to break into song when we go to war. Not that I’m saying anything against the animation. The songs are brilliant, and if I could squeeze them in there, I would have. But we do honor the music from the animation in a very significant way.“– -Niki Caro on why his Mulan is different from the animated movie
No Time to Die – April 10, 2020
James Bond’s world of fantastic gadgets and submarine cars has always been as much science fiction as it is a grounded spy-thriller, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. 007 will return in 2020 to deliver more high-tech thrills in what may be Daniel Craig’s last outing as Bond in No Time To Die.
This final Craig-led installment finds 007 having left active service and living in Jamaica. His buddy and CIA operative Felix Leiter asks Bond for his help searching for a missing scientist. It soon becomes apparent the scientist was abducted, forcing 007 to confront an enemy and danger the world has never seen. Will this truly be Craig’s final 007 film?
If it is Craig’s last film, they’re trying to make it count. The running time for the movie has been announced and when No Time To Die arrives in theaters it’s going to be LONG. Nearly Lord of the Rings long. The movie’s run time is going to be 163 minutes.
For those of you not good at maths, that’s more than two and a half hours. That’s fifteen minutes longer than the previous longest James Bond movie record-holder, Spectre.
One of the most exciting things for fans is always figuring out who the next Bond girl will be. But Daniel Craig doesn’t like it. He recently came out against the entire idea, saying “I don’t even call them Bond girls. I’m not going to deny it to anybody else. It’s just, I can’t have a sensible conversation with somebody if we’re talking about ‘Bond girls.’“
He’s not going to try and stop you from saying it… but he’s not going to have anything to do with anyone who does. That sounds a lot like you’re trying to stop people from saying Bond girls to me, Daniel Craig.
No Time To Die’s Theme Song
Billie Eilish performs the new Bond theme song and it has been released in advance of No Time To Die’s arrival in theaters. It’s one of the most haunting and beautiful Bond themes ever. Give it a listen…
Super Bowl Advertising
No Time To Die had one of the most memorable ads at the 2020 Super Bowl and it was also the most expensive. MGM spent $5.69 million to get the ad in front of Super Bowl viewers, making it the most expensive ad spot of the entire Super Bowl. In case you missed it, here’s the No Time To Die Super Bowl trailer…
The thirty-second trailer aired twice for that $5.69 million price. That breaks down to a cost of $94,833 per second. Hopefully it pays off for James Bond and MGM.
The Iron Mask – April 20, 2020
Released in China last year as Journey to China: The Mystery of the Iron Mask, this movie doesn’t star Jackie Chan and Arnold Schwarzenegger, but it does have at least one long scene in which they beat each other up. A lot of that fight is in the first trailer, and it’s a lot of fun. Watch…
The Iron Mask actually stars Jason Flemyng as a Russian Cartographer sent to map out the far east. That’s the official plot synopsis, but somehow the trailer has a lot of dragon fighting in it. How that fits together is anyone’s guess, you’ll have to watch the action movie when it’s released.
Fast & Furious 9 – May 22, 2020
This ninth action movie in the Fast franchise brings back all the series favorites. Vin Diesel returns as Dominic Toretto, who has retired and settled down with Michelle Rodriguez’s Letty. Not much else is known about the plot but Justin Lin is back in the driver’s seat for the fifth time as director. John Cena joins the cast in an undisclosed role.
The first teaser trailer for the movie has arrived and it begins with Vin Diesel fixing a tractor. Watch…
Don’t worry Fast & Furious fans, FF9 won’t be all hanging out on a farm fixing tractors. The full and sure to be action packed first Fast & Furious 9 trailer arrives on just a few days.
The Green Knight – May 29, 2020
The Green Knight is an action fantasy movie from writer and director David Lowrey. The story is based on the classic poem Sir Gawain and The Green Knight. Sir Gawain as you may recall was one of the Knights of the Round Table.
Here’s the first trailer for The Green Knight…
The Green Knight stars Dev Patel as Sir Gawain. So as you probably guessed, the title isn’t named after our hero. Ralph Ineson is the titular Green Knight. Sean Harris appears as King Arthur. Joel Edgerton co-stars in the action movie as Lord.
Top Gun 2: Maverick – June 26, 2020
Over 30 years ago America had the “need for speed”. Seems America has not lost that lovin feeling. Tom Cruise is back as America’s favorite fighter pilot, Maverick. His story picks up over 30 years later training Top Gun graduates. It is there where he meets up with “Rooster”, the son of Maverick’s deceased best buddy “Goose”. The mission they will embark upon will be like nothing any living pilot has ever seen.
Jennifer Connelly (Noah, Only The Brave) stars as Maverick’s love interest. The action movie will also see the return of Val Kilmer as Maverick’s nemesis Iceman.
Disney’s Jungle Cruise – July 24, 2020
Disney is hoping Dwayne Johnson (Rampage, San Andreas) can start an action movie franchise similar to Pirates of the Caribbean with this movie based on the popular Disneyland attraction. Johnson is Frank, a riverboat captain, who is hired by a scientist and her brother to find the Tree of Life. It is said the Tree holds healing powers. Emily Blunt (Mary Poppins Returns) is on board as the scientist.
The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard – August 28, 2020
A sequel to the popular The Hitman’s Bodyguard sees the return of all three stars from the first action movie. Samuel L. Jackson, Ryan Reynolds and Salma Hayek are all back in this action film that finds bodyguard played Reynolds teaming up with assassin played by Jackson to save wife, played by Hayek, from more trouble. If this one is as fun as the first, it’ll be a sure hit.
Without Remorse – September 18, 2020
This action movie is based on Tom Clancy’s 1993 novel of the same name. It stars Michael B. Jordan (Creed 1 and 2) as a Navy Seal, John Clark, who heads down a path of vengeance trying to solve his wife’s murder. It was recently announced that Jordan is signed on to portray Clark in two movies, the aforementioned Without Remorse and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six.
The King’s Man – September 18, 2020
This prequel to the Kingsman series takes fans back to the very beginning. Set in the early 1900s, the story follows a young man as he is introduced to the Kingsman, the secret organization set up to help protect the world. This time, the young man must help stop the world’s worst tyrants before they gather to start a war that will wipe out millions.
Snake Eyes – October 16, 2020
This is the third installment of the G.I. Joe action movie franchise and is said to be an origin story of the popular character Snake Eyes. Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians) is set to take over the role of Snake Eyes.
Henry Golding delivered our first ever look at the new Snake Eyes as he’ll appear in his action movie in this post…
And here’s star Henry Golding posed for a shot with the action movie’s first poster…
Before the entire cast of the action movie posed together…
In addition to Golding, Snake Eyes stars legendary action hero Iko Uwais, Andrew Koji, Haruka Abe and Takehiro Hira. The action movie is slated for a October 23, 2020 release and is currently shooting in Japan.
Red Notice – November 13, 2020
This Netflix action movie pairs megastars Dwayne Johnson (Jumanji) and Ryan Reynolds (Waiting, 6 Underground) with Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) in a story taking place in multiple countries about an Interpol agent who is hot on the trail of the most wanted art thief in the world.
Uncharted – March 5, 2021
The popular Uncharted video game series is brought to life as an action movie prequel, starring Tom Holland (Spider-Man) as a young Nathan Drake to Mark Wahlberg’s (Daddy’s Home, Lone Survivor) Sully. The story supposedly follows young Drake as he meets up with Sully and the two become partners in their globe-trotting treasure hunting adventures.
After years in development and lots of delays, star Tom Holland says Uncharted starts shooting in March of 2020. He tells IGN: “So yeah, we start shooting in like four weeks. Mark Wahlberg is going to be amazing as Sully. The stunt department that we have out there in Berlin have done an amazing job already, prepping the stunts, and it’s going to be an exciting one.”
As for the plot, he offered a few more clues. Tom Holland says, “One of my favorite video games ever is the fourth Uncharted game. And lots of the inspiration from the film has come from that game in particular.“
Jackass 4 – March 5, 2021
Jackass 4 is happening and Paramount has already given it a release date. It’s safe to assume they wouldn’t have set a release date for it if at least a large portion of the original cast wasn’t set to return. Johnny Knoxville and the gang are Jackass, after all. But they may be missing at least one key component: Steve-O.
In the following interview, Steve-O reveals that he hasn’t signed up for the movie yet. Watch…
When asked about Jackass 4 in the above, Steve-O had this to say: “It has been greenlit by Paramount Pictures, yeah. They say March of 2021. But they haven’t given me an offer that I can really take seriously yet. Not to be rude or anything, but… I don’t have a contract yet. So we’ll see.”
It sounds like Steve-O might be holding out. Of all the Jackass crew he is perhaps the one most publicly damaged by their antics, battling addiction and health problems, a lot of which fueled his crazy behavior on the show in the first place. In recent years he’s tried to clean-up his life, and it’s easy to understand why he might be hesitant to return to that world. It’ll probably take a lot to get him back, and there’s no telling if Paramount will actually be willing to pay it. Given that the movie already has a release date, and he isn’t signed, that may be a sign they’ve already decided to go on without him.
Sherlock Holmes 3 – December 22, 2021
Finally! The long in development and overdue Sherlock Holmes 3 is moving forward in production. Robert Downey Jr. will return as our favorite detective, having previously appeared in Sherlock Holmes and its sequel Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. Alongside him we will also see the return of Jude Law as Dr. John Watson.
There are rumors galore as the production moves towards it start, so let’s separate fact from fiction. Fact: Guy Ritchie will not be returning to the series as he has been replaced by Rocketman director Dexter Fletcher. Fact: Chris Brancato has been hired to write the screenplay. Brancato is best known as the co-creator of the Netflix series Narcos while also having small screen credits on The X-Files and Beverly Hills 90210. Fact: The only other cast member officially announced is Paul Anderson (Peaky Blinders) who portrayed Colonel Sebastian Moran in the second Sherlock Holmes movie. Fact: SH3 has been given a December 22, 2021 release date. Now for the rest.
Jared Harris’ Moriarty is said to be returning to SH3. If you recall, his character, along with Holmes, took their tumble over Reichenbach Falls, both appearing to have perished. Holmes made his survival known at the end of A Game of Shadows, but Moriarty was believed to have died. It’ll be interesting to see how they bring him back, if that’s the case. Noomi Rapace is also rumored to be back as the gypsy fortune teller Madame Simza, who helped Holmes and Watson take down Moriarty.
Word is that the film will be set in the Old West with San Francisco the likely destination. The story appears to follow Holmes and Watson as they travel to the U.S. to deal with a corrupt businessman, Senator Cornelius Guest. Oscar Isaac (Star Wars trilogy) is being looked at for this role. It is also said the story will bring in a new female lead as a young investigative journalist and that Daisy Ridley (Star Wars trilogy) is circling this role. And while it supposedly has been confirmed that Paul Anderson is to return as Sebastian Moran, there have been some recent rumors that Michael Fassbender (X-Men series) could end up with that role instead. Although Rachel McAdams name does appear on the Sherlock Holmes 3 IMDB page, her return has not yet been confirmed.
