Tiffany Haddish Says All Of Her Projects Have Been Canceled
Tiffany Haddish says all her gigs are canceled after she was named in a recent sexual abuse lawsuit.
The sexual abuse lawsuit filed against Tiffany Haddish and Aries Spears was recently dismissed, but it looks like the filing has had a negative effect on Haddish’s career. She recently spoke to TMZ saying “Oh, I lost everything. All my gigs, gone.” It remains to be seen if the suit being dropped will help Haddish get more gigs in the future.
The lawsuit filed against Tiffany Haddish and Aries Spears alleged that the two comedians sexually exploited minors, primarily through the filming of two sketches. One sketch titled “Through a Pedophile’s Eyes” allegedly featured Spears as a pedophile who rubbed massage oil on the male plaintiff’s back and observed him in a bathtub while smoking a cigarette. The other sketch allegedly involved the female plaintiff simulating oral sex with a sandwich after Haddish allegedly showed the plaintiff a video of a similar scenario and described how to do it.
The case against Tiffany Haddish and Aries Spears was dropped with prejudice, meaning it can’t be refiled. The plaintiffs wished Haddish well in their statement, though they didn’t mention Spears. Though Haddish has denied the accusations, she did take to social media to apologize and she mentioned to TMZ that she is no longer in contact with Spears.
While Tiffany Haddish may not be working on any projects, it doesn’t mean we won’t be seeing her in any films in 2022 and 2023. Haddish has already completed filming for several upcoming projects. It seems likely that Haddish won’t be cut out of any of the upcoming films, especially with the suit being dropped altogether.
The biggest film on Tiffany Haddish’s upcoming releases is undoubtedly the reboot of Disney’s Haunted Mansion. Haunted Mansion will star Rosario Dawson as Gabbie, a single mom who hires a tour guide, a psychic, a priest, and a historian to excise ghosts from her newly acquired mansion. Justin Simien directs and the rest of the cast is rounded out by Haddish, Winona Ryder, Jamie Lee Kurtis, Danny DeVito, Jared Leto, Owen Wilson, Dan Levy, LaKeith Stanfield, and Hasan Minhaj.
Both of Tiffany Haddish’s other projects on IMDb are said to be in the post-production phases. These include Landscape with Invisible Hand and Back on the Strip, which is expected to premiere before the year is over. Back on the Strip tells the story of a man named Merlin heading to Vegas to pursue a job as a magician but he ends up becoming the frontman of the black male stripper crew The Chocolate Chips.
Back on the Strip stars Spence Moore II along with Tiffany Haddish, Wesley Snipes, Kevin Hart, Colleen Camp, Faizon Love, J.B. Smoove, Piper Curda, and Emalina Adams. The film is directed by Chris Spencer, who also co-writes the script with Eric Daniel. Back on the Strip is set for a November 17 release.
Most recently, Tiffany Haddish reprised her role as Tuca in Season 3 of the animated comedy Tuca & Bertie alongside Ali Wong. It’s unclear if Adult Swim will go forward with another season of the show at this point. With Haddish saying that she doesn’t have any jobs at this time, it seems like they have yet to make their decision.
