Sydney Sweeney has become one of pop culture’s preeminent fashionistas practically overnight, if you do not count the decade-plus of work she did before breaking out to audiences in The White Lotus and Euphoria. A lot of that has to do with her proclivity for outfits like the one she wore at the 73rd Berlin Film Festival and recently posted to her Instagram account. While Sydney Sweeney might love to dress up in fantastically dreamy looks on occasion, she also seems to have a fondness for near-transparent gowns like this one.

According to the caption of Sydney Sweeney’s post, she was dressed entirely in Armani with matching makeup (specifically a combination of shades 404 and 403 for her lips) from the designer’s beauty line. The dress itself was a gauzy black sheer with a square-cut neckline and straps; in the video on the third slide of the carousel, Sydney Sweeney performs a sashay-like motion that reveals the top to be sparkling under the light. The skirt of Sydney Sweeney’s black gown was layered with fringe and beaded effects that give it a hint of flapper style.

All in all, it is one of Sydney Sweeney’s trademark sexy/classic looks. At the time, she was attending the Armani Beauty x Harper’s Bazaar Dinner and in Berlin for the premiere of her new film Reality, in which she portrayed real-life American whistleblower Reality Winner. Reality was directed by Tina Satter and adapted from her own off-Broadway play Is This A Room, and co-starred Marchánt Davis and Josh Hamilton. The film received positive reviews from critics in Berlin, currently registered at 84 out of 100 on the review aggregator Metacritic.

Reality is just one of the many projects that Sydney Sweeney is currently working on. In addition to the adapted play, Sweeney is starring in a psychological horror film titled Immaculate, though there are few details available other than the actress gushing about how intense filming was during interviews in Berlin.

She will also be starring in the upcoming film Madame Web alongside Dakota Johnson and Adam Scott, in a role that has not yet been announced. Madame Web is the latest installment in Sony Pictures’ attempt at rivaling the cultural dominance of Marvel and DC in comic book shared universes, following two Venom movies starring Tom Hardy and Jared Leto’s Morbius

Along with Madame Web, Sony Pictures is currently in production on Kraven the Hunter, starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson (who also might be hopping aboard the James Bond franchise). While Sony has a long way to go before it can match the sheer number of Marvel Cinematic Universe films or even the confusing tangle that is the current DC Universe, it is being smart by recruiting hot young stars like Sydney Sweeney. Even if it has bewildering plans like basing a movie around Henry Cavill as one of the most fourth-tier Spider-Man characters imaginable.

Sydney Sweeney will also be appearing in Euphoria Season 3, expected to be released on HBO in late 2023 at the earliest.
