Sydney Sweeney has a lot to celebrate this week, though perhaps not quite as much as she’d hoped. Along with celebrating her 25th birthday, the Euphoria star was nominated for her first two Primetime Emmys this year. Sweeney characteristically appeared at the awards night looking stunning, as you can see in photos above that she shared to her Instagram account on Monday night.

Sweeney attended the ceremony in a gray gown with a vintage glam aesthetic and an interesting floral print created with metal threading. The dress leaves her back almost completely exposed, followed by a bustle train. As PageSix reported, Sydney Sweeney complimented the dress with diamond earrings and a choker necklace.

Monday night, the night of the Primetime Emmy Awards, was also Sydney Sweeney’s birthday. The actress was honored on the occasion with two nominations — Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for her time on The White Lotus, and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her much more well known role on Euphoria.

Sadly, the Emmys’s birthday gifts to Sydney Sweeney didn’t go so far as a trophy win. For the Supporting Actress In A Limited Series award, Sweeney lost to her The White Lotus co-star Jennifer Coolidge; who also happens to be the only cast member returning for the second season. For Supporting Actress in a Drama, the win went to the deserving Julia Garner for the role of Ruth Langmore on the recently concluded Ozark.

Considering Sweeney’s competition included four of her The White Lotus co-stars as well as actors from such acclaimed series as Dopesick, Succession, Better Call Saul, Squid Game, Severance, and Yellowjackets; it doesn’t seem like an empty cliche to say Sydney Sweeney’s nominations — particularly at such a young age — are honors all on their own. Nor does it seem likely the actress will be spending time licking her proverbial wounds. Along with being expected back in the role of Cassie Howard for Euphoria Season 3, she has a number of films on the way.

Probably the most widely talked about upcoming project Sydney Sweeney is joining will make her part of a shared Marvel superhero narrative, though it’s not quite the MCU. Sweeney was cast in an undisclosed role in next year’s Madame Web, set in the same Sony Spider-Verse that is the home to such Marvel comic book characters as Tom Hardy’s Venom, Jared Leto’s Morbius, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Kraven the Hunter. Dakota Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey) will play the titular hero.

There isn’t a release date yet, but some time in the not-too-distant future Sydney Sweeney will appear alongside singer Halsey, Paul Walter Hauser (Richard Jewell), Zach McClarnon (Doctor Sleep), Simon Rex (Scary Movie), and Toby Huss (Copshop) in Tony Tost’s directorial debut National Anthem. In late August, it was reported that Sweeney is producing, developing, and set to star in an upcoming sci-fi thriller based on the to-be-published novel The Registration. Sweeney will play a woman on the run in a world where murder is legal, desperately trying to find out who wants her dead.
