Sydney Sweeney is no stranger to flaunting barely-there outfits on the red carpet. So when the Euphoria star attended the New York City premiere of her latest movie, Reality, she did not stray far from the trend. The 25-year-old starlet wore a strapless black Schiaparelli dress with alternating strips of ruffles and see-through mesh netting.

The White Lotus star paired the gown with high black platform heels, a set of rings, and silver drop earrings. Sydney Sweeney shared some photos from the event on social media. “Reality had its NYC premiere last night,” she wrote in the caption. “Beyond grateful and overwhelmed by all the love this film is receiving. Can’t wait for you to see it on HBO, May 29.”

Sydney Sweeney’s reputation on social media has been a topic of discussion due to several controversies unrelated to her risqué outfits. In 2022, she received threats after sharing photos of her mother’s hoedown-themed birthday celebration. The backlash came after fans spotted details in the background that seemingly exposed her family’s political views.

People in attendance were seen wearing Trump baseball caps and T-shirts. Sydney Sweeney addressed the social media fallout in an interview with GQ UK, saying, “Honestly, I feel like nothing I say can help the conversation. It’s been turning into a wildfire, and nothing I can say will take it back to the correct track.”

In 2021, Sydney Sweeney broke down during an Instagram live while urging her followers to “be nicer on social media.” She revealed that her name was “trending” as people attacked her appearance. “I am trending on Twitter for being ugly,” she said at the time. “I think it’s really important for people to see how words affect people.”

Sydney Sweeney also discussed the pressures of social media, saying that Instagram is the unhealthiest part of her life. The 25-year-old compared it to spying on neighbors, explaining that she hesitates before sharing pictures. “The fact that I am second-guessing and having anxiety over posting a picture is sickening,” she said.

However, her anxiety doesn’t extend to her acting career. Sydney Sweeney leads the cast of Reality as the titular character, Reality Winner, known for leaking a classified government report on Russian interference in the 2016 election to a news outlet. Tina Satter directs the movie from a script she co-wrote with James Paul Dallas.

The story is adapted from an intelligence whistleblower’s real-life FBI interrogation transcript. The story unfolds within a day in 2017, as FBI agents visit Reality’s home to question her about mishandling sensitive information. Tina Satter previously told the story in an off-Broadway play called Is This a Room. Along with Sydney Sweeney, Marchánt Davis, and Josh Hamilton appear in supporting roles.

Sydney Sweeney’s most anticipated project is Madame Web, based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. The movie was directed by S. J. Clarkson from a script by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama. The cast features Dakota Johnson in the title role alongside Sweeney as Julia Carpenter.

Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, Tahar Rahim, Emma Roberts, Mike Epps, Adam Scott, and Zosia Mamet appear in supporting roles. The Sydney Sweeney movie will hit theaters on February 16, 2024.
