These days, fans are understandably excited about Jenna Ortega and her awesome Wednesday series. However, we would likely have never had that altogether ooky Tim Burton show without the success of the 1990s Addams Family movies. In those films, Christina Ricci stole the show as the brooding young Wednesday, and this Instagram fan account highlights how sexy the actor looks when she swaps out her trademark gothic wardrobe and gets into a slinky red dress.
While this fan account shares many images of Christina Ricci on a regular basis, it looks like this one was selected because Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. As the account creator points out, “she looks exactly like a red satin heart one would give their lovers” on that special day. Furthermore, the account promises a very special post once February 14 rolls around, so Ricci fans have something to look forward to besides some little chocolate candies and reruns of Wednesday (a show in which Ricci appears, though her character has no relation to Wednesday herself).
Part of what makes this photo of Christina Ricci so exciting is that she has captured the perfect balance between appearing sexy and demure, all at the same time. For example, the low-cut dress is enough to make thirsty fans of the star start doing their best impressions of Gomez trying to seduce Morticia. The rest of the dress is very long, though, obscuring Ricci’s legs under the folds of enchanting red color.
It’s also worth noting just how distinct the dress she is wearing is. Just look at it and try to pretend you don’t know who Christina Ricci is. It looks for all the world like she might be the sexy star of a movie adapting your favorite anime or video game (for that matter, if Capcom ever wants to release a Ricci May Cry video game, we’d love to see this goth warrior cutting down otherworldly enemies).
And if you’re a fan of Christina Ricci, it’s worth noting that you’re likely to see a lot more of her in the coming months and years. While she continued as a working actor long after the ‘90s Addams Family movies, many of her film and television opportunities were a bit obscure, and she often avoided the camera altogether to serve as a voice actor in a number of animated productions. Given her high-profile exposure in the critically-acclaimed new Wednesday show, it’s a fair bet that she’ll be getting bigger roles offered to her before you can say “they’re creepy and they’re spooky.”
However, it seems unlikely that Christina Ricci will be appearing on Wednesday for future seasons. At the end of the first season, she was not only revealed to be the show’s Big Bad, but she also ended up on the receiving end of what appeared to be a fatal curb stomping from our title character. However, in a universe full of magic, mysticism, and misdirection, we can never say never to Ricci returning to Nevermore, just as we can never say never to her rocking this sexy red dress again.
