Penelope Cruz can pull off just about any look — including a black leather corset paired with Nike bike shorts and heels. The actress took to her Instagram to post a shot from her photo spread for Vogue Spain and she looks undeniably amazing as always. The look is made that much better by the long yellow train that perfectly adorns her shoulders and provides a nice pop of color against the all-black look.
On top of looking better in her late 40s than most people do in their 20s, Penelope Cruz has had a fantastic acting year as well. To start off, she was nominated at the 2022 Academy Awards for her role in the 2021 film Parallel Mothers. Although Cruz ended up losing the award, she still brought a fantastic performance to the table in a film about two mothers bonding after giving birth the same day.
In addition to being nominated for Hollywood’s most prestigious award in 2022, Penelope Cruz also starred in several films. Her only English-language film this year was the Simon Kinberg-directed action thriller The 355. The 355 starred Jessica Chastain, Cruz, Diane Kruger, and Lupita N’yongo as agents working together to recover a top secret weapon and keep it out of the hands of a mysterious woman who is tracking their every move (Bingbing Fan).
Penelope Cruz also put her multilingual talents to the test when she starred in the Italian film L’immensità. L’immensità was direct by Emanuele Crialese and told the story of the love between a mother and her children in 1970s Rome. Cruz starred alongside Vincenzo Amato, Elena Arvigo, Filippo Pucillo, and more.
Penelope Cruz will wrap up the year with her upcoming Spanish-language film En los margenes, which is set to release on October 7. The film is directed by Juan Diego Botto, who also co-wrote the script with Olga Rodriguez. En los margenes tells interwoven stories that happen over the course of the day.
Juan Diego Botto’s En los margenes debuted at the Venice Film Festival with its English title On the Fringe. It was also shown at the San Sebastián Film Festival where Penelope Cruz won another major honor. At this year’s San Sebastián Film Festival was honored with Spain’s National Cinematography Prize, as reported by Variety, along with two standing ovations from the crowd at the ceremony.
As for Penelope Cruz’s next English-language role, it’s shaping up to be a big one. Cruz will be starring as Laura Ferrari in a biopic about Italian sports car entrepreneur Enzo Ferrari. Adam Driver will be in the title role.
Ferrari has a ton of big names behind it along with Adam Driver and Penelope Cruz. It’s going to be the next big feature from acclaimed director Michael Mann since his 2015 effort Blackhat. The film also stars Shailene Woodley, Sarah Gadon, Patrick Dempsey, Jack O’Connell, Gabriel Leone, and Lino Musella.
