Katherine McNamara has either been lucky to be associated with successful television shows for the past seven years, or she’s just exceptionally gifted and a hard worker, either way, the star is burning brighter than ever going into 2023. Kicking the year off right, the stunning actress took to her Instagram account and shared what are apparently, outtakes from a photoshoot. As she said in the caption, “sometimes even the outtakes of life are pretty great too,” and after seeing the images, you’ll likely agree that these outtakes are great.

The Arrowverse star appears to be in the middle of a desert, wearing a stylish cowboy-influenced hat, cowboy boots, and a dress that is completely see-through. Katherine McNamara’s orange dress appears to be made of scale mail, except every scale is hollow, an effect that is more pronounced in the harsh sunlight. After spending years on shows that left her covered by darkness and shadow for long stretches, the actress seems to be enjoying her time in the light.

Following the failure of The Mortal Instruments movie, Freeform adapted the books for a television series, casting Katherine McNamara in the lead role of Clary Fray. Shadowhunters followed Clary as she discovered she wasn’t a normal 18-year-old girl, but was part of a long line of Hunters, destined to do battle in the war of good versus evil, while finding forbidden love along the way. The show was a moderate success, as with most teen series; it didn’t get much in ratings but was popular on social media, eventually leading to McNamara starting a Shadowhunters rewatch podcast earlier this year with her co-star, Dominic Sherwood.

Late in the run of Arrow, Katherine McNamara was cast as Mia Smoak, the future daughter of Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) and Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards). During the last season of Arrow, McNamara became a regular on the series and even starred in a backdoor pilot for her own series, taking over the mantle of Green Arrow, though the CW decided to pass on the series.

Katherine McNamara’s latest breakout role, following a teen series breakout and then a superhero breakout, is on another CW series, Walker: Independence. The television star plays Abby Walker, an ancestor of Jared Padalecki’s Cordell Walker, in the late 1800s after Abby’s husband is murdered in front of her, eventually leading the Bostonian to Independence, Texas. The series also stars Matt Barr, Katie Findlay, Greg Hovanessian, Philemon Chambers, Justin Johnson, Lawrence Kao, and Gabriela Quezada.

An up-and-coming star, Katherine McNamara has already, at the age of 27, starred in two series, had a prominent supporting role in a movie franchise (The Maze Runner), a hit limited series (The Stand), and even released her own music. She needs to share a video on social media proving she can’t whistle, just so there’s video evidence of something the star can’t do. Walker: Independence returns to the CW on January 12, bringing an old west-styled McNamara back to the small screen on a regular basis.
