Grammy Award winner and pop-star Justin Bieber has been accused by a woman on Twitter of having sex with her in 2014 without her consent. In response, Bieber’s name has been trending on social media with fans calling for him to be cancelled.

According to the lengthy tweet, which has since been deleted along with the account, “Danielle” claims the incident happened at the Four Seasons hotel where the pop star had performed a surprise set. This allegation was first denied by Alison Kaye, who is the general manager of Scooter Braun’s SB Projects and also represents Bieber, and has now been denied by Bieber himself in a lengthy tweet.

“Danielle” posted her claim on Twitter, stating that on March 9, 2014, as a 21-year old, she and friends were attending an Austin event that was being hosted by Braun, when an unidentified man approached “Danielle” and friends asking them if they would like to hang out with Bieber. She then said that Bieber took them all back to the Four Seasons where Bieber took her into the bedroom. After some making out, she alleges that Bieber began to undress her, not listening to her complaints of things going too fast and far for her. She then said that Bieber forced himself inside her.

In Kaye’s denial, which she said the allegation as “factually impossible”, she pointed out that on the night in question Bieber stayed at an AirBnB, that his Austin reservation didn’t even begin until the following evening, and it was for the Westin, not the Four Seasons.

Not long after Kaye responded to “Danielle’s” allegations, Bieber himself went rogue and posted his own denial. Here’s his statement…

And that is just what Bieber did. In his 15-tweet thread, Bieber presented his own evidence stating the allegations were false, claiming that while he was at the event, he was there with then-girlfriend Selena Gomez and friends. He shared tweets and news articles that had documented Gomez’s presence during that time as well as their late arrival into Austin. Before he brought out his big guns, Bieber spoke about a tweet that said he was seen at the Four Seasons that was then clarified by the owner of the tweet that she saw him at the restaurant, not the hotel. Then came the big guns.

Bieber brought out receipts, both AirBnB and hotel receipts, giving proof that he wasn’t at the hotel the night in question. In his tweet thread, Bieber states, “Furthermore I stayed with Selena and our friends at an airbnb on the 9th and on the 10th stayed at a Westin because our hotel reservation at LÀ Quinta and not the four seasons was messed up. Here are the receipts for the hotel on the 10th.”

So, where does Bieber go from here? Well according to Bieber himself, along with denying the allegations, he is prepared to take matters one step further going the legal route. “There is no truth to this story,” he said on Twitter. “Every claim of sexual abuse should be taken very seriously and this is why my response was needed. However this story is factually impossible and that is why I will be working with twitter and authorities to take legal action.”

It seems Bieber is willing to fight. How this shakes out is anyone’s guess. Many were quick to take to his defense, but there were also some ready to condemn.

Given the state of the world, there’s no telling how far this goes.
