The defamation trial between estranged former spouses Johnny Depp and Amber Heard instantly became one of the most media-covered legal cases in recent memory and was as much argued over social media as the courtroom. After the verdict overwhelmingly fell in Johnny Depp’s favor (with Amber Heard being found guilty on all counts of defamation), many found it to be a vindication of the Pirates of the Caribbean star and the springboard for his ongoing public rehabilitation. However, the recent unsealing of a number of previously unseen court documents has led to a number of celebrities quietly withdrawing their perceived support from the actor.

Per Jezebel, it seems that a number of documents involved in the trial were unsealed, apparently at the behest of a crowdfunded group of Johnny Depp’s supporters and fans. It can be inferred that the Johnny Depp supporters thought these documents would reveal more damaging information on Amber Heard. However, it appears the exact opposite has happened and it is causing other famous people to quietly remove their Likes from a post Johnny Depp made on Instagram celebrating his legal victory over Amber Heard. A viral Twitter thread is currently cross-referencing and listing all of the celebrities that Liked the post in question, and have now un-Liked it, presumably tacitly indicating they do not want to be associated with the star at this point.

The list of celebrities that unLiked the increasingly notorious Johnny Depp post about the conclusion of the Amber Heard defamation trial is pretty huge. It includes huge, established celebrities like Jennifer Aniston, Robert Downey Jr, and Taika Waititi, upcoming stars like Joey King, KJ Apa, and Riley Keough, as well as perennial show business types like Carmen Electra and Naomi Campbell (who previously commented a string of emoji hearts on the post). Johnny Depp has had a tumultuous public image in the last several years, going from one of the biggest Disney franchise stars in the world to an allegedly unemployable actor. His career very much appears to be on the upswing as of late, but we shall have to see whether this quiet withdrawal of celebrity support is a harbinger of things to come.

The unsealed documents from the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard defamation trial included revelations that Depp’s legal team had attempted to introduce nude photos of the Aquaman actress as evidence, as well as a brief period in which she allegedly worked as a stripper. The documents also apparently shed more light on the relationship between Johnny Depp and alleged abuser Marilyn Manson. There were also notes from Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s therapist that have been taken to support her claims of intimate partner abuse.

It will have to remain to be seen whether this will further impact Johnny Depp’s status in the public eye. At the very least, Depp fans and supporters have proven themselves to be frighteningly loyal to the movie star, and it seems unlikely these documents will change that. However, it seems that it does for a number of other celebrities.
