The wife of Power Rangers star Jason David Frank has confirmed that he died by suicide. The actor was found dead on November 20th and, while reports indicated that he took his own life, the official cause was not provided at the time. These premature stories also made incorrect assumptions about the couple’s relationship which resulted in online harassment.

Now, Tammie Frank has addressed the situation in an interview with People. “While Jason was a well-known name to some, we lived a very normal life with ups and downs, just like anyone else,” she told the publication. “Since Jason’s death, I have been harassed online and can no longer stand to watch my husband’s good name slandered. It has shocked and saddened me beyond belief to see that the media has turned my family’s tragedy into a tall tale,” Jason David Frank’s wife added.

Tammie also took the opportunity to clarify the status of her relationship with the Power Rangers star. Speaking candidly, she said they initially planned to separate. But that is only part of the story.

What wasn’t reported at the time of Jason David Frank’s passing was that their separation had been called off. To repair their marriage, the couple booked a weekend getaway at a country dancing event.

She explained that after returning to their hotel room she went downstairs to get snacks from the lobby. But when Tammie returned about 10 minutes later, her knocks at the door went unanswered. “I knocked repeatedly and kept calling for his name to open the door,” she said of her last moments with Jason David Frank.

The police were called to open to door and found that her husband had taken his own life.

“These were the disturbances that have been brought up numerous times online,” she continued. “I loved my husband, and we were trying to work through our problems,” Tammie told People. She said his death comes as much a shock to her as anyone else as she had no idea that Jason David Frank was thinking of ending things.

While he had struggled with depression before, no one could have predicted what would happen that night.

Imploring fans and the media to stop making assumptions and allow her family to grieve peacefully, Tammie said all they want is to remember Jason David Frank during happy times and move on from the pain. “I only ask for sympathy and understanding during this difficult time,” she said. The actor’s wife also added a message of thanks to everyone who has loved and supported Jason and his family.

“Thank you for your kind words and wishes and God bless you all.”

Jason David Frank is best known for his portrayal of Tommy Oliver (aka the Green/White Ranger) from the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers which ran from 1993 to 1995. He also appeared in the movie adaptation. The mixed martial arts star reprised the role several times for other projects in the franchise.

This included roles in 1996’s Power Rangers ZeoPower Rangers Turbo in 1997, and Dino Thunder in 2004. He also made a cameo alongside co-star Amy Jo Johnson in the 2017 reboot.
