While Disney and Lucasfilm might be done with Gina Carano and are already moving forward with their plans for the Star Wars universe without her, big social media platforms are yet to cease their attempts to temper her online presence. After the whole Twitter branding her profile as “sensitive content,” it is now Instagram that has attached a warning label to any post or story about the former The Mandalorian actress.

As reported by Twitter user @thattugglife, Instagram has attached a COVID-19 related warning on a story post made by her about a promotion for an upcoming Gina Carano fansite, the GinaCaranoNet. The user took to Twitter to post about the weird new “trend” started by the social media platform which seems to have strangely singled-out posts by Gina Carano posts as being eligible for the COVID-19 warning even when the post or story itself has not mentioned the pandemic even once.

According to the screenshot shared by @thattugglife of her Instagram post, Instagram has attached a warning to the story post that says that as it includes information about COVID-19, they have gone ahead and added a link to a health source. But as stated above, the interesting thing is that neither the post nor the GinaCaranoNet fansite (or its social media handles) is at all related to or talks COVID-19.

Even Boundingintocomics, which first reported this anomaly, tried to make a post as well as a story about Gina Carano and reportedly faced the same phenomenon. Could this be a new, and widespread piece of social media management we are seeing?

The only connection that one can imagine that Gina Carano has to COVID-19 is her anti-masks posts back in November 2020. In her post, she had shared internet memes that seemingly mocked the major pandemic safety precaution i.e., mask-wearing. It is one of her many posts that led to the trending hashtag #FireGinaCarano and ultimately her removal from the Disney+ series, The Mandalorian, and any other upcoming Star Wars project she was going to star in. If this is the only connection that Instagram’s latest step is based on, looks like the social media platform needs to re-evaluate its decision.

This is not the first time a social media platform has flagged Gina Carano’s account. Just last week, her Twitter account was branded as having “sensitive content” such that her public profile remained hidden when a user searches for it and tries to open it. Users would first have to read through the warning that states that her profile may include sensitive content as she tweets “potentially sensitive images or language” and then choose to view her profile.

Gina Carano, who has been fired from The Mandalorian Season 3, has also reportedly lost her own solo Star Wars series as well as her part in the upcoming The Book of Boba Fett. Currently, she is busy developing and producing her own film for the conservative website, The Daily Wire. While details about the same are currently being kept under tight wraps, it has been reported that the film will be produced as part of Daily Wire’s partnership with Bone Tomahawk’s producer Dallas Sonnier under his banner, Bonfire Legend.
