Elon Musk has been a busy man this past week. While most people’s spending spree goes on frivolous things such as the latest video game, fashion statement or a boozy weekend, Elon Musk bought Twitter. Now, fresh off the back of his $44 billion purchase, Musk Tweeted which company he wants to gobble up next, Coca-Cola is the target he has set In his sights and Newsweek have broken down whether such a purchase is possible because let’s face it when Elon Musk Tweets he wants to buy a company, who’s to say he isn’t joking?

So, while the world waits with bated breath to see what Elon Musk does with Twitter, he has instead Tweeted that he wants to purchase the most popular drinks brand in the world and in his own words “put the cocaine back in.” It is worth noting that Cocaine was an actual ingredient in the original Coca-Cola offering, although since the 1900s it has had no place in the soda beverage the world has come to know and love. So, after a $44 billion splash of the cash on Twitter, is there enough cash left in the Musk reserve to buy Coca-Cola and reintroduce this ‘missing’ ingredient? You can see Musk’s tweet below.

According to the aforementioned Newsweek article, the numbers would suggest that the answer to this foreboding question is no. The Coca-Cola Company itself is worth more than $285 billion, which makes Twitter seem an almost bargain in comparison and is in fact close to Elon Musk’s total net worth. So it would seem that Elon Musk may have finally found something he can’t afford to buy, as one financial Twitter account pointed out.

Be that as it may, a few short weeks ago, days even, it might have seemed fanciful that Elon Musk would become the sole proprietor of Twitter. It shouldn’t really come as a surprise however, his Tesla car company has the world re-evaluating the nature of the automotive industry and he is determined to fly humans to Mars by the end of the decade. Elon Musk is a man who likes to set the bar high, before leapfrogging it and setting the bar even higher. Although it might be for the best he forgoes reintroducing Cocaine to Coca-Cola should he find a few extra billion down the back of the sofa.

In the meantime, Elon Musk’s tweet provoked many a user into pitching other potential suitors for Musk’s apparent bloodlust for major corporations. One user asked if Musk could take out the social media competition via a TikTok purchase and subsequent destruction. Another user asked for their dental school loans to be paid off, while there was also a call for Musk to purchase Fox so that a new series of Firefly could be produced. This last suggestion even caught the attention of Musk himself.

The jury is out on what Elon Musk decides to purchase next. The question of what his intentions are with Twitter is also up in the air, with the billionaire’s claims of protecting free speech prompting some high-profile users of the app to log off indefinitely, fearful of hateful rhetoric being able to spread unchecked. Whatever the future of Twitter may be, and whatever company Elon Musk decides to spend big on in the future, one thing that does remain certain is Elon Musk will most definitely tweet about it to let the world know.
