In just the span of five short years, Dua Lipa has become one of the world’s biggest and most influential pop stars. After beginning her career as a teenage model in England, she began uploading her songs to SoundCloud and shortly thereafter signed a record deal, releasing her self-titled debut album in 2017. All this is to say that five years is a breathtakingly short amount of time to go from appearing in commercials for British talent shows to having multiple number one hits in both the United Kingdom and the United States, an armful of Grammys and other awards, and being about to enter the world of film as a world conqueror. As one might expect, Dua Lipa has the truly staggering kind of social media presence you would expect in a pop star of her magnitude. Her official Instagram account currently has over 83 million followers, which, for comparison, is more than the entire population of the nation of Germany. That is true popularity. But with photos like these, there is no question as to why. This new photo set posted by Dua Lipa shows the singer posing in a pale green sequined bikini top and matching microskirt. She is wearing a necklace of the same color around her throat, and her long dark hair is falling over the trademark impassive expression favored by her supermodel predecessors. As the subsequent photos in the set show, she is also wearing a pair of matching satin stiletto heels, a small square watch, and several silver rings.
Dua Lipa is also sporting the kind of deep tan that makes you imagine lazy days spent sunning in the Riveria, but she is actually too busy of a woman to get do too much of that. She is currently in the latter half of her globetrotting Future Nostalgia tour in support of the album of her same name. Dua Lipa has already been touring since February and is scheduled to continue through November, with her current leg of the astonishing series of shows having her traverse Latin America. The tour was actually originally supposed to begin in 2019, but the global Covid-19 pandemic delayed it a number of times; we applaud you for your concern for health and safety, Dua Lipa.
In addition to her intense touring and recording schedule, Dua Lipa is soon to become part of your moviegoing experience as well. She is set to make her film debut in the Matthew Vaughn spy thriller Argylle, which will star Henry Cavill (as the titular superspy), Samuel L. Jackson, Sam Rockwell, Bryce Dallas Howard, Bryan Cranston, and pretty much the majority of Hollywood. While the plot of Argylle is mostly under wraps so far, it seems to be being positioned as the beginning of the franchise, so it is always possible that we could see Dua Lipa as part of a whole new series of films.
