Brie Larson, who is serving on the jury at the Cannes Film Festival, has been a major presence at the 12-day soiree. The Marvel alum has been showcasing some of her best looks at the event, with her latest outfit turning heads at the Perfect Days red carpet premiere on May 25. The 33-year-old looked incredible in a Chanel black, ecru, pink, and blue embroidered denim vest with a matching top and skirt.

The Fast X star shared images from the red carpet, along with a few behind-the-scenes shots on Instagram. “Time flew by so quickly. Only a couple days left at Cannes,” Brie Larson wrote in the caption. The actress paired the glamorous ensemble, which hails from the Chanel Cruise 2023 collection, with striking makeup and silver jewelry.

Brie Larson was selected as one of the eight members of the main Competition jury for the 76th edition of the festival on May 3. She is serving alongside screenwriter Damián Szifrón, director Maryam Touzani, actor Denis Ménochet, screenwriter and director Rungano Nyoni, filmmaker Atiq Rahimi, director Paul Dano, and director Julia Ducournau.

The judges are carefully selected from diverse backgrounds within the film industry, taking into account their exceptional body of work and reputation among their colleagues. Membership, including the prestigious position of the Presidency, often reflects recognition of their lifelong contributions and achievements. In recent times, there has been a noticeable emphasis on directors and actors.

Along with her counterparts, Brie Larson will be tasked with selecting a winner from the 21 films competing for the Palme d’Or award. The winner will be revealed on May 27. While the event aims to celebrate cinema, it hasn’t been without some controversy. Brie Larson was left unsettled when she was asked to share her opinion on a Johnny Depp film (Jeanne du Barry) opening the festival.

An awkward situation took place during a press conference on May 16. Taken aback, Brie Larson responded tersely, “You’re asking me that? I’m sorry, I don’t understand the correlation or why me specifically.” Clarifying the connection, the journalist mentioned the actress’ advocacy for the Time’s Up Movement.

“Understood,” Brie Larson said via the Independent UK. “Well, you’ll see, I guess, if I see it, and I don’t know how I’ll feel about it if I do.” Jeanne du Barry is a French biographical drama written and directed by Maïwenn, who also stars as the lead character. The supporting cast includes Pierre Richard, Benjamin Lavernhe Noémie Lvovsky, Pascal Greggory, Melvil Poupaud, and India Hair.

Meanwhile, Brie Larson is gearing up for The Marvels, which hits theaters on November 10. Nia DaCosta directs the movie from a script she co-wrote with Megan McDonnell, Elissa Karasik, and Zeb Wells.

The story follows Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), who has reclaimed her identity from the Kree. While having to shoulder the burden of a destabilized universe, the superhero’s duties send her to a wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary. As a result, her powers become entangled with two other super-powered beings.
