Marvel characters have had a massive 2022 with the release of Thor: Love and Thunder, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever; and 2023 looks to be just as huge. Brie Larson is set to reprise her role as Carol Danvers in the upcoming 2023 release, The Marvels, and judging by the pic she posted above, the cast having a blast on set. Larson dropped the image of her and her co-stars on Twitter, plus the film director while calling them all beautiful humans.

The image sees Brie Larson in a pinstripe jacket and a bright smile, taking a selfie with her new crew behind her. Iman Vellani leans cooly in a t-shirt with an equal smile, Teyonah Parris stands in the back with perhaps the widest smile and her hair down, and Nia DaCosta leans forward to lend her own light and complete a crew looking to bring a massive hit to Marvel.

Brie Larson seemed like she was on the brink of stardom for years before landing the role of Carol Danvers. Her role in Captain Marvel served as a bridge between Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame and served to introduce the powerful character to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After the divisive reception to her Carol Danvers, she is finally set to reprise and continue her story.

Iman Vellani joined the MCU both to support and to idolize Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers in the Disney+ series Ms. Marvel. Her introduction of Kamala Khan changed the MCU’s pace by introducing not only the first Muslim hero but also the first mutant. Her award-winning role as Ms. Marvel was the first credit on her IMDb page, but she is scheduled for three other MCU projects, including The MarvelsAvengers: The Kang Dynasty, and Avengers: Secret Wars.

Teyonah Parris had a longer career before joining the MCU as she appeared in Mad MenEmpire, and other projects before showing up in WandaVision. Her role as Monica Rambeau accomplished the introduction of more characters from the Captain Marvel mythos and also a moral grounding for Wanda Maximoff. She is now set to star alongside Brie Larson in The Marvels, with the capability even to take over the franchise if needed.

The last occupant in the image is Nia DaCosta, the film’s director. She is probably best known for her directing work in the horror remake of Candyman, which starred Yahya Abdul-Mateen II of Aquaman fame and her The Marvels star, Teyonah Parris. She also wrote the film and is set to direct and produce The Lincoln Conspiracy once her duties for Marvel are complete.

The Marvels is only one of the big releases 2023 will see in the Marvel Universe. Along with the Brie Larson sequel, fans will get to enjoy Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (Release Date: Feb. 17, 2023), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (May 5, 2023), and the Sony project, Madame Web (Release: Oct. 6, 2023). While her first attempt at bringing Carol Danvers to the screen was met with a divisive response, fans are going to get a look at her second chance, this time with the help of three beautiful people.
