If you thought 2020 was strange but held out hope for a calmer, better 2021, then you might want to buckle up. It’s only January, and we already have Armie Hammer cannibalism rumors going around. Now, Hammer has gone public with an apology, but not for what many feel he should be sorry about.

Earlier this month, a Twitter user came forth with direct messages that Armie Hammer supposedly sent from his private account. Allegedly, the messages contained some alarming insinuations, with cannibalism being among the more alarming things he said. None of these messages have been confirmed, but they do certainly raise eyebrows.

In the weeks since Armie Hammer sent those messages, the actor has split with his wife, who whisked their kids away to the Cayman Islands. Now, Hammer isn’t on the best terms with the Miss Cayman Islands Universe Committee because of new problematic messages he supposedly sent via social media. He has apologized to Miss Cayman Islands, but many are curious as to why he’s not addressing the elephant in the room: Do you eat people, Armie?

Here’s the original message in question:

Well…my ex (for very good reason) wife is refusing to come back to America with my children. So I have to go back to Cayman…which sucks. Except there are a few silver linings. Like fucking Ms. Cayman again while I’m down there.

The Miss Cayman Islands Universe Committee was quick to tell The Cayman Compass what was really up, voicing its displeasure with Armie Hammer and setting the record straight with no minced words or tangled meanings.

Rather than refer to this as “bullshit” like he did with the cannibalism rumors, Armie Hammer publicly apologized in an audio clip sent to The Cayman Compass.

I would like to clarify that the person in my video, which was stolen from my private Instagram, is not Miss Cayman. I am genuinely sorry for any confusion my foolish attempt at humor may have caused.

Call Me By Your Name Armie Hammer

Armie Hammer has gotten himself in trouble with fans before. From being overly critical of Stan Lee immediately after the Marvel creator’s death to this latest issue, Hammer has displayed an uncanny knack for misreading the room.

Armie Hammer isn’t out of Hollywood yet, though, nor does it look like his career is over after this situation. He’s got a number of high-profile projects coming soon, and he’s still got some exciting stuff on the way. Even though Armie Hammer has left Shotgun Wedding, a film he was scheduled to film with Jennifer Lopez, he already has three projects ready to go. Hammer will be appearing in Crisis, alongside Gary Oldman, as well as the Murder on the Orient Express sequel, Death on the Nile. Hammer is also appearing in Taika Waititi’s next film, Next Goal Wins, starring Michael Fassbender and Elisabeth Moss.

Should he watch what he says? Absolutely. But we will definitely be seeing more of Armie Hammer sooner rather than later. Even though it still hasn’t been confirmed he doesn’t feast on the blood of innocents.
