While Amber Heard is squaring off in court against her ex-husband and fellow actor, Johnny Depp, those on the outside are rallying around the face of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and calling for Heard to be dropped from her upcoming film, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, aka Aquaman 2. After a fan of Depp’s created a petition calling on Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Films to remove the leading actress from the big-budget action flick, other followers appeared to rally in support, adding names upon names to the ever-growing list. And now, the change.org Amber Heard petition has gained a whopping 4,013,992 signatures out of its end goal of 4,500,000. Once it hits the larger digits, it will launch itself into becoming one of the highest-reaching petitions on the website.

With the back and forth legal proceedings surrounding Amber Heard (and the petition) and Johnny Depp raging on, it seems as though the two have been inside the courtroom for much longer than they actually have been. No strangers to the halls of justice, this case is just the latest in a slew of allegations passed back and forth by the ex-lovers. This time around, Depp is alleging libel and taking Heard to court in Virginia’s Fairfax County Circuit Court, claiming that an op-ed she did with the Washington Post back in 2018 greatly defamed him by claiming she was a victim of domestic abuse. While the actress never mentions Depp by name, allegations that were put out by her in the past made it pretty obvious as to whom she was speaking of.

Now, over one month into the trial, the public has heard some traumatic allegations coming from both sides. Between Hollywood agents, psychologists, friends, family members, and more, everyone seems to be coming forward with their thoughts on just what happened between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. The two met back in 2011 on the set of The Rum Diary where they soon struck up a relationship. They would end up married and then divorced and then on and off again until things came to a head and they separated for good.

During the course of their incredibly rocky relationship, Amber Heard has claimed that Johnny Depp put her through physical and sexual assaults brought on by the actor’s alleged heavy substance abuse. Meanwhile, Depp fired back that all of this was a lie and that he was in fact the battered one, bringing up evidence of past altercations through which Heard allegedly carried out harm on him. The most notable act of violence that Depp has alleged thus far is the claim that after discovering the sober actor had been drinking again, Heard threw a bottle of vodka at him which severed the top of his finger. Doubtlessly, it is allegations like this that spur the increasing numbers of the Amber Heard petition.

It’s because of this story and more that the public’s point of view on the trial is beginning to shift in favor of Johnny Depp. Many fans have rallied to the Alice in Wonderland actor’s side and shown him support during these times. Such is the case with millions of folks at change.org. With this ever-growing list of names stacking sky high on the Amber Heard petition, it’s only a matter of time until this sheet and ones like it pick up the pace, forcing DC and Warner Bros. to make a difficult decision.
