Amber Heard may have lost her lawsuit against Johnny Depp and the public opinion of the woman has plummeted severely, however, she should not be counted out right now. There are reports that Heard has landed a multi-million dollar book deal, which could lead to her exposing her truth in greater detail. Not only that, but now she has received support from one of the biggest NBA superstars. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is one of the most legendary basketball players the world has ever seen, and he has turned himself into a strong writer. He often posts opinion pieces that cover a myriad of subjects. He chose to back Heard in one of his newest opinion pieces.

According to Jabbar, “The real agenda here is to diminish women, their voices, their stories—and especially their increasing power in society.” The man is referencing the hatred that Amber Heard has received throughout the weeks this trial has gone on, and well, basically the vitriol she has received since the issues with her, and Depp were made public. Before this defamation suit began, there had already been a petition to have the woman removed from Aquaman 2. This stemmed from the 2019 lawsuit that labeled Johnny Depp a “wife-beater” in The Sun. This led to the first lawsuit taken on by Depp, which he lost after the UK courts confirmed 12 of the 14 counts of abuse were enacted by the actor. Things certainly went a different route in the most recent trial.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar goes deeper into the circus of the trial, and now people were made to take sides from the beginning. There are plenty that still do not believe that Amber Heard was so violently abused, there was a strong bias against the woman from the beginning, and it seemed as though Johnny Depp was placed on this pedestal that he was not going to be knocked down from. At least Heard can take some sort of solace in knowing that there are some people attempting to back her up, even though most of the country has made up their minds about her.

Although both Amber Heard and Johnny Depp had planned to move forward after the trial had ended, well, that is what both of them stated. It appears that Heard is not quite ready to let things go. She appeared on Today, where she spoke about the public opinion of her. There is also this rumored tell-all book that is happening. Also, there are reports that she is going to appeal the court’s decision, which isn’t that big of a shock. Both parties had also stated they would seek an appeal if they lost. However, reports indicated that Depp’s team could drop the $8.35 million in damages if Heard stops her appeal.

Johnny Depp has moved on with his life, which is a bit easier considering that he won the case. Had he lost, things might have gone differently for the man too. Amber Heard might continue her appearances to speak her truth, even if no one happens to believe her. At least for her, she can rely on people like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to paint in her in a better light.
