Alison Brie was one of the many, many stars to break out from Community, showing off incredible comedic timing and delightfully providing the basis for plenty of jokes about her looks, but when the cast gets back together again, Annie may be the most jacked of all the cast. Brie, who recently turned 40, shared a video to Instagram making chin-ups look easy, so long as you stop counting at 10. With the support of her incredibly enthusiastic trainer, the BoJack Horseman star shows off her arms, her determination, her midriff, and an impressive amount of raw strength.

In the comments of her post Community star Joel McHale loves that Allison Brie’s trainer sounds like Matthew McConaughey. Other stars chimed in, including Sarah Hyland, saying “Show me your ways oh wise (and strong) one,” and Debby Ryan with “are you kidding 😍 fight me.” One of Brie’s fans suggested she show up to the Community movie jacked like Linda Hamilton in Terminator 2, except no one ever acknowledges it.

While there’s a lot of humor in imaging Troy (Donald Glover) and Abed (Danny Pudi) struggling to not comment on Annie’s guns, as opposed to Annie’s Boobs, it’s likely that jokes or not, Allison Brie is going to be ripped in short order. After all, the Mad Men star proved she could do drama, comedy, and with her leading role breakout GLOW, even her own stunts. The physical transformation the star has gone over the years is in great part due to her role as Ruth Wilder, an actress that finds her voice as Zoya the Destroyer.

GLOW is based off of the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling, a wrestling promotion run by David McLane in 1986. An all-women professional wrestling show during the height of Hulkamania over in the WWF, Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling shocked the industry by achieving higher syndicated ratings than WWF Superstars. The Netflix series starred Allison Brie, Betty Gilpin, Marc Maron, Britt Baron, Kate Nash, Shakira Barrera, and TNA Superstar Awesome Kong, under her real name, Kia Stevens, and unfortunately, it mirrored its inspiration a little too much.

GLOW, the Netflix series, was a huge hit and helped Allison Brie and Betty Gilpin break out on their own, but the following season reportedly had less viewers with the third, dropping even more from the second. Ultimately, with the Covid-19 pandemic starting to hit, Netflix decided to cancel the show, which is disappointing but the streamer seems to cancel everything no matter how much fans like it. GLOW, the wrestling promotion, had a similar issue in the late 80’s, while the first season was a record-setting hit, ratings plummeted soon after, leading to a cancellation after four seasons.

Allison Brie may be starting off the New Year by getting jacked, but her next big role won’t let audiences actually see her, as again, it’s a voice acting gig, albeit one larger than Bojack Horseman or Rick and Morty: Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. Brie voices Aftershock, an electricity-based villain in one of the episodes of the MCU-adjacent animated series debuting on Disney+ starting on February 10th. The long-awaited Community movie, following six seasons, is slated to start shooting this Summer.
