Zack Snyder And J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Are Having A DC/Star Wars Tweet-Off

They’re two of the biggest pop culture events on the horizon. Zack Snyder is attempting not only to serve up a sequel to the high-grossing but controversial Man of Steel, he’s kicking off an ambitious planned series of interlinked DC films designed to rival Marvel’s massively successful Cinematic Universe. And then there’s J.J. Abrams, also a larger-than-life Hollywood personality some love to hate, who’s bringing Star Wars back to the big screen in a major way with Episode VII, which will itself kick off a reinvigorated — and more tightly policed, canon-wise, Star Wars universe. I imagine Snyder and Abrams would have plenty to talk about should they get the chance to share a beer at some point, but in the meantime they’ve been busy tweet-flirting. It all started with the image below, tweeted by Snyder just as San Diego Comic-Con was kicking into gear.

Zack Snyder Has A Watchmen Cameo

Though we try not to get completely bogged down in the over-the-top superhero humping that dominates some sci-fi sites here on GFR, we’d have to be crazy not to be excited about Watchmen because, well, it’s Watchmen. It’s more than a superhero comic and more than a science fiction story, it’s epic and genre changing.

So if you were in charge turning the greatest comic of all time into what, we hope, will be the greatest movie of all time… wouldn’t you find some way to work yourself into it? That’s just what Watchmen movie director Zack Snyder has done. The guys at Slashfilm have the details on Snyder’s well-hidden cameo in the film. Remember the part in the trailer where Manhattan and Comedian walk through Vietnam blowing up enemy soldiers? Snyder will be one of the American soldiers in the background.

Check out the image below, and keep an eye out for Zack when you’re watching his Watchmen on March 6th.
