ABC has announced their new lineup of shows for this fall, and among them is a time travel series called Life on Mars. Weird name for a time travel story, I know, but the show is about a modern day police detective transported back to 1973 where he continues to work as a cop.
The really exciting thing here is that among the cast is Star Trek: Deep Space 9 alum Colm Meaney. Since DS9 Meaney has made his mark as a seriously talented character actor. The guy’s worth following around just about anywhere he goes. He’s due for a breakout role, maybe this will finally be it.

Life on Mars is based on the BBC series created by Matthew Graham, Tony Jordan and Ashley Pharoah. The series revolves around Sam Tyler, a modern-day police detective who, after a car crash, mysteriously finds himself transported back to 1973 and still working as a detective.
The series stars Jason O’ Mara as Sam Tyler, Rachelle LeFevre as Annie Cartwright, Colm Meaney as Gene Hunt, Stephanie Jacobsen as Maya, Lenny Clarke as George Randall, Patrick Wenk-Wolff as Colin Raimes, and Richard Benjamin as Milton Kornboll.
The series is produced by Twentieth Century Fox Television and ABC Studios. Josh Appelbaum, Andre Nemec, Scott Rosenberg, Jane Featherstone, Stephen Garrett and David E. Kelley are the executive producers. The pilot episode of “Life on Mars” was executive-produced by David E. Kelley, Stephen Garrett, Jane Featherstone, Tommy Schlamme and Bob Breech, and was produced by David E. Kelley Productions in association with Kudos Film & Television LTD and 20th Century Fox Television.
