lifeonmars Life On Mars Is Dying OutI guess I'm not the only one who never got around to watching ABC's modern cop trapped in the 70s show, Life on Mars. io9 has been watching the series' ratings over on TV By the Numbers, and they say it's sinking fast.

What few viewers the show had seem to be jumping ship. It's consistently dropping in the ratings. So much for mainstreamed science fiction on prime time network TV.

I blame myself... because like most of you I'm not watching it. Before it aired, Life on Mars seemed like something to be excited about. It has Colm Meaney for god's sake! But then it sort of slipped off the radar and when I finally did tune in for a few minutes of the show one night, it seemed like a miserable, half-thought out bore. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe I just need to give it a chance, but it's certainly no Quantum Leap.

At least their effects budget should be fairly cheap. All they really need to make the show happen are some leftover 70s cruisers rescued from a junkyard, an easily grown porn-stache, and a few bad, 70s suits picked up from the local resale shop. Maybe whatever viewers it has left (5 million or so currently) will be enough to keep Life on Mars in orbit.
