The Sci-Fi Channel’s upcoming BSG spin-off Caprica is filling out its cast. It’s a prequel, which means opportunities for the use of existing BSG castmembers are pratically nil. They’ll have to start from scratch, and they’re starting with an actress named Paula Malcomson.
Malcomson has been cast as the female lead in Caprica… and no she’s not playing a Viper pilot. Instead, she plays a surgeon named Amanda, who works as a “double agent” according to HR. Does that mean Cylon? Let the speculation begin!
Malcomson has been a long time television actor. Most recently she’s appeared on episodes of shows like Lost, E.R., and even Enterprise where she played Madeline Reed for one episode.
Also added to the cast is Esai Morales, as Admiral Adama’s father Joseph Adama. Those of you who’ve been paying attention will remember that Joseph Adama was part of Apollo’s inspiration for ditching his day job as a Viper pilot to pursue the law.
Esai Morales is a well known character, most recently seen in a recurring role on Jericho. You remember him, he played the no-nonsense soldier Edward Beck.
